I have just returned to the doc scene and am going to try my hand at gathering resources and makin my own buffs. I have mainly just been buying my buffpacks, so I am wondering how long it usually takes you to accumulate the necessary resources to make say...a set of 800 power buffs? I know there is a decent spawn of Class 4 petro on corbantis right now, guess i need to get me some harvs heh.

Well, to answer this I'll make the assumption that all the resources to make an 800 buff pack are currently spawned. Having said this.... The hardest part is the avian and herb meat, moreso the avian. Darrsk and I are actually friends from highschool, so we play as a team 100% of the time. I have the houses, he does the miners. With 10 slots we are able to put down a variety of harvestors on the resources I need. We can easily get 100k+ off of each spawn. (in reality, alll the resources won't be worth mining, so we put multiple harvestors down on the good ones and get more).

You can mine faster than you can harvest avian. SO however fast you can get that, is how fast.
I believe it takes close to 8k of avian to run a factory crate of 50 full buffs.
(50? Or 20? I don't remember. lol)

Mr. Heads is correct, avian and, to a lesser extent, herbivore meat will take the longest to get.

That being said, the other resources are all harvestable so get yourself a bunch of harvesters (medium or large) of each type and find those high concentration points. Make use of swgcraft.com to figure out when something is of decent quality on your server and harvest the heck out of it. In time, you will find that it is infrequent for more than 2 resources that a doctor is interested in is spawning in high quality at the same time.

I keep track of the top 2 resources I have of each type and only harvest when something spawns that beats them. Put your best stuff together and you will be able to make 800s fairly quickly (probably a couple weeks real time). Don't get hung up on achieving the max on your subcomponents if your target is 800power. aBECs should be experimented for charges first. aSDSs in the 55 power range and aCRDM of about 50 power should be all that you need to hit 800 power.

That's my 2 credits worth on the subject...

With the components ojes mentioned, you will still need good quality avain meat and gas. The gas could probably be easily purchased but it could be a while before some decent avian meat shifts. The OQ and PE combined should be over 1500-1600 and gas should have OQ over 850, at least. DR on either the gas or avian meat should also be pretty high, but not really as important as the power.

To answer the first post... If you care about resource quality it can take months to be able to make something decent.

You're aiming for 800 power buffs rather than 900 power, so you should be able to buy most of what you need.

I would first look for wheat, fiber, class 4, dolovite, and oats that are at least 75% of perfect. You will not need "best ever" resources to make 900 power bufffs. For 800 power, go for more common resources that aren't quite as good. These should all cost less than 10 cpu. If you happen to get a spawn of one of these that is better than what you can buy, then get all over it. The only one that you can really count on harvesting in any short time period is the oats. 75% of perfect isn't exactly common (since it depends on 2 stats), but with 10 spawns at a time, getting at good oats spawn isn't all that rare.

Next, the herbivore meat. Again, look for at least 75% of ideal (say, 750 OQ, 525 PE). This shouldn't cost more than40 cpu if you can find it at all. Worst case, watch the herbivore spawns closely and as soon as you see a qualifying one, get busy killing (or hire people to kill for you).

Pay more for the reactive gas. You want something with at least 950 OQ and preferablya high DR. The good news is that when good reactive spawns, lots of it gets harvested (more than gets used), so it may not that hard to find some. If necessary, I would pay up to 50 cpu for reactive of OQ over 950 (though you might be able to find it under 10 cpu as well depending on how many good gas spawns your server has had). This is a high price for something a harvester can mine, but it's critical for you buff pack.

Finally, the avian. You really want OQ over 900 and PE over 800. High DR helps, but if you are willing to live with a 2.5 hour buff, it isn't critical. Don't pay 200+ cpu for the 950/950 stuff as your other resources won't be good enough to fully take advantage of it. But if you can find some 900/800 stuff for under 100 cpu, grab it. Like herbivore, you might have to wait for a spawn.

If you can't buy the meats, these will determine length of time to get the buffs you want. Expect to see about 20 avian and 20 herbivore spawns every month. Don't expect any of them to be great (though you might get lucky).

75% of ideal on subcomponent resources, 950OQ/500DR on the gas and 900OQ/800PE/500DR on the avian should yield around 825 power with a 9900 duration and something like 28 charges for a cost of no more than 6K credits a pack.

Wow Happy thats a lot of good info, I appreciate the pointers hehe. It is good to know what stats are typically more important and what resources are most important. Thanks for the info guys.

Thanks for the tips, my friend is a master weaponsmith, so he is doing the run-around with resources as well. I think if we work together we should be able to accumulate the necessary stuff. I plan on swapping out artisan and scout as I need it, currently TKM/DOC but I will be trying some of the other melee profs just for kicks. That said, I dont think killing things for meats will be too hard, but I can see how avian meat is tough hehe....most bird type things have crappy amounts of meat thanks for the stats on what power equipment you need for 800 power buffs. I would love to make stronger ones, but I think shooting low for my first set of buffs will make it more enjoyable if I get a higher value
