Thread: Skill points ????

Anyone else noticed there's going to be a severe shortage of skill points for Master Docs with the cost of the new jedi branches.

Basically any Profession that relies on mastering a base profession is going to start coming up short.

I'm Master swordsman and Master Doc which seems to be a pretty standard combination. Checking through the skill points and i come up short.

with only the brawler 2 handed branch and master swordsman, master medic and master doc i don't have the 23 skill points left to get the 6 branches of jedi skills need to go on further.

Which means i have to drop down either swordsman or doc which makes the bonuses to them from the jedi skill pretty pointless as the profession i lower won't be maxed anyway.

Anyone else hit this problem?

and while i'm at it, 80k xp sucks and the whole lame ass 'grinding again' system is pathetic.

To fill the sense persuasin branch it would be easier to drop doctor after healing the 5 patients. take scout and ranger. earn shed loads of combat and scouting xp in the squill caves. Then you can go back and pay for senses levels with the scouting xp and bump yourself FS xp up in other branches with the combat xp. Once you've finished then grind doctor back, far quicker and easier.

This is all a part of the skill based system. If you want to go on the be a Jedi, you will have to free up skill points. This is no different than you wanted to pick up any other profession.

I'm debating the same things. I have a few months (umm... phases) before I need to worry about it. I may drop the 2 boxes necessary and start looking for lvl 90 buffs

The problem is that with doc requiring two master professions, medic and doctor to be any good there isn't enough skill points to go around.

Being master doc / master swordsman was ok, you could put up with having to walk up hills.

But by taking the 6 FS branches to boost my combat and doc skillsI'm going to have to drop either master doc or master swordsman to get them.

So to supposedly make my character better and move onto the next level i have to make my character worse and grind all over again.

Doesn't seem to fit to me. Another great piece of character development brought to you by SWG

Honestly, what did you expect? Adding to your character costs skill points, it has to. The FS skills are not just new content, they are new skills.

Why is this a doc issue? Doesn't everyone have to drop portions of their template in order to add new skills? How is this different then any other template change? Actually this is is easier because you can pick up a tree for 4 points instead of 14 and a new prof for free.

The nice thing about Doc is they can Master Doc / Master some fighting prof and have some points left for a while. Some profs aren't so lucky. MCMs with a master fighting prof (ranged only possible) had to start dropping after one FS tree in order to get any moreFS skills. Docs can get 4 and a half FS trees before they have to adjust their templates.

If you are planning on being a Jedi then say goodbye to your current template. You'll probably end up with none of your current skills.

Don't you open up a new character when you become an initiate?

So isn't the shortage only temporary until you get your jedi?

Seems like it is working the way it is supposed to work..
