Thread: Best way to grind med xp at village (so far.... at least for me)

I am woking up the persuasion branch. I got the first box by buffing for free at the village.
(of course we know that the med xp cap encourages one to grind near the village)

Problems I encountered:
(1) Other docs grinding xp too.... (actually competing to give free buffs)
(2) Down times when no one to buff
(3) It's damn expensive to buff all those times for free

So I decided to buff my pet instead (call, buff, store, repeat).... which is an old doc grinding trick. However, not being a CH, I can't call my pet AND med droid at same time.... so I had to drop some Fencer to get novice scout.

I make a camp just 800m outside of the village.
I can now buff my pet continuously without competition or any slow downs/waiting.
Also, It's CHEAPER.... because now I ONLY buff action (don't have to do full sets)
(this is cheaper since Action requires NO avian meat.... and I can get more charges/power due to using other resouces)
My pet doesn't mind I'm only buffing his action (unlike players ) and I can call and store before I can even do another buff.

I also made a "/tellpet store" macro button.
I was hoping that with the added ability to call vehicles from the toolbar, the devs also added that ability with pets (then this could all be done afk/macroed).... but they did not.... and I don't use auto-it.

So to get my top 3 persuasion boxes I need 1,050,000 force xp.... little less since I've started box 2.
Averaging 1k per action buff per I'll need 328 more action buff packs (30 uses) and have to buff my pet 9800 more times..... this is a lot, but do-able.

I was hoping Rangers would be grinding Survival XP and have field bases outside the village so I wouldn't need scout skill and maybe dancers would grind at the field base as well and we could have a social field base grindfest..... but alas, I am alone at my camp (except for my lvl 10 bantha)

This is the best method (for me) so far.... any way I can inprove on my grind?

Well... I still don't intend to grind through this... but if I did...

1. Find a good friend w/ access to the village.
2. Group with them.
3. Kill them.
4. Res them.
5. Heal them.
6. Repeat 3-6

You'll get about 1.2k med xp per kill/heal/res, and if you're anything near decent at combat, this will go really fast. Only problem is your friend will be mute for around 10 min at the end of the process lol.

Meh, those numbers are just so discouraging, even if they are possible... I'm going back to Shadowfire soon, going to drop ranged [found out just how much I enjoy melee more] and get Master Swordsman. *nods* You can fill up 900k weapon/90k combat easily in 3 hours, and trade it in for 60k FS xp. The devs were truely not thinkin' of the non-combatants when they came up with the conversion rates.

I'm not sure this would be any quicker (I get over 1k of med xp ever 16 seconds now)..... but it would definitely be cheaper.
Unfortunatley, I don't have any friend willing to let me kill them for hours on end. Especially friends with access to the village (they have grinding to do as well)

As for the conversion rate.... I do not mind it.... it is the xp cap.... I will have to "cap" my med xp 131.25 more times (which is a lot of trips to the village).... if it weren't for the cap, I would play as "normal" including buffing in coronet for money. The problem with buffing for xp versus combat for xp is also that combat profs can MAKE money/loot while grinding, while I am LOSING money while grinding. If the xp cap were raised (this my MAIN issue) I could make money while grinding and Actually be PLAYING THE GAME (instead of ONLY grinding).

Also the survival xp can be converted to the persuasion column.... although it is minimal.

I dont think the travel time to the village is that big of a deal. Im content to just buff people for $$ in naboo or corellia and then head out to the village. Buffing 11 people caps me out.

Also, if you have skill points or are willing to drop skill to make room, you can take up Slicing, Merchant, or Entertainer.

1- Slicing is harder because of steeper skill reqs, but its a 3>1 transfer rate. Buy many crates of knives, clamps, and precision laser knives and get to grinding. Once you get past the first slicing tree of course.

2- Entertainer is 10>1. Once you go up 3 boxes in either music or dance, You can afk macro overnight. Then you can convert about 35k-40k XP the next day. 4k FS xp isnt all that much, but seeing as its afk its not to bad. Also, it has the least pre-reqs of all 3 as all u need is novice entertainer and 3 boxes.

3-Merchant is a 4>1 conversion. Its the easiest of all if you have a bud to help you. Plus you can grind medic xp while you do this as well. Just get to merchant and plant a vendor. Then have your friend "macro browse" your vendor ad nauseum for xp (i forget what the macro is). All the while your healing ppl for even more xp. DOUBLE xp grind

Yes, buffing 11 people caps you out.... but that's a BAD thing.
Who can get away from a buff line after only buffing 11 peeps?

Just to get ONE column done:
You will need to cap your medical xp 159.375 times.
If you wanted to complete a SINGLE column in ONE YEAR you would then have to travel to the village every 2.29 days at a MINIMUM.

If you cap at buffing 11 people, you'd need to buff 1754 people to get a single column.
Anyone you buff after the 11 will NOT count towards this total.

To get 6 columns:
You will need to cap your med xp 956.25 times.
If you wanted to complete all 6 columns in ONE YEAR you would then have to travel to the village every 0.38 days (almost 3 times A DAY) at a MINIMUM (that is if you did med xp for all 6 columns which I am not sure is possilbe)

If you cap at buffung 11 people, you'd need to buff 10,524 people to get all six columns.
Anyone you buff after the 11 will NOT count towars this total.

In my opinion: HAVING TO GO DRIVE TO THE VILLAGE 3 TIMES A DAY FOR A YEAR IS A BIG DEAL.

Speaking as a master doc / master swordsman, the quickest way to do the persuasion branch seems to be.

DROP DOCTOR

Use master doc to get through the missions to open the sense branch.

drop doc,

grind scout and the hunting branch in ranger.

Then go to the squill caves, kill and harvest everything that moves. max out 2 handed, combat xp and scouting xp.

dump the two handed and combatinto another FS tree.

convert the scout xp into the sense tree.

when finished re grind doc.

Advantages to this is you can do it solo.

You don't need to be able to buff yourself because the other docs in the village are doing it for free,

The XP caps are huge in comparison to doc and you can earn for two or three trees at once.

Two things

a) You need sense force XP to get the trees most crafters want which means only able to get em with Medical XP, Med Crafting XP, Scouting XP, DNA Sampling XP, Merchant XP, Surveying XP, General Crafting XP...etc. etc. So that method wouldnt work for us... though I do intend to do it that way once I get a combat slot.

b) Yes, you are right, devs did screw it up for non-combatants. One thing I havent noticed in the town is an entretainer. Anybody know if Entretainers also get some kind of conversion?

I actually use this method too...I cap on combat xp..buff people at starport while waiting for shuttle to take me to dath, then cap off my med xp buffing my pet before I turn it all in. The only real progress I have made, however, is in the combat trees having 70k more FS senses xp just to fill first box of persuasion Hopefully this issue will be taken care of though....

I'll be using this Template....

Master Medic

Master Doc

Scout 4/4/0/0

Brawler 0/0/4/0

Swordsman 0/0/4/4

I'll be able to grind up to 5 different kinds of XP up to their max caps.

Of course if you do Swordsman it better to have Scythes as their other weapons are a little bit slow
