So are they worth it. A very well trusted Doctor friend of mine loves his extra two points. But to get that you need plus 20 towards Experimentation. Wow. I have plus 7 now and trying to get the last plus 3 just to use my first one. Now I know it takes very high quality resources for you to even get to use these points. But what am I missing. Is there some magic voodoo I should be doing?

Also thanks Apiok for everything you have taught me.

I find I generally max out at least power on my buff packs before running out of exp points, so the things will generally let you get more charges out of your buffs (you can exp up the ABEC charges as well as the final buff charges) but won't increase your power any.

IMHO, with the prices charged for experimentation tapes that are more than +1, it's not worth it for the majority of the docs out there. The exception is if you're a crafting doc that primarily sells to the public. Having buff packs with a few extra charges and a 90 meduse or Stim-B's that are consistently over 40/400 can make a significant difference when you're competing in the open market.

If you're making buffs for yourself and/or your guild, it's probably not worth it, unless you have the money to blow.

By the way, the only subcomponent that you'll see a difference on is usually ABEC's - I generally max out ASD's and ACR's with 9 points. Generally speaking, the difference on the finished product isn't going to be power, since you can almost always max out that line with 10 points, but rather a lower meduse and/or an increased number of charges.

Extra points are very valuable to add extra charges or lower the ease of use down for the Dabbling Docs

with 11 points you'll be fine with one or two less use or so. not worth getting the extra 10 points for 20millions unless you gonna sell heavily to public.

only if you are planning on selling alot of packs is the extra +2 reasonable because of the inhibitive price of the tapes.

I absolutely love my 12 points but there are two things behind that. I had plenty of money to start with and I do sell extensively to the public.

i find 12 points to be very beneficial. i only make 1 type of med, and thats buff packs. but here is the breakdown:

ABEC's can and will benefit nicely from the extra 2 points. on my server, i have made 22 charge, 18 power abecs. and 16 charge, 25 power abecs.

Solid Delivery and Chem release dont benefit from anything over 10 points.

Reg Stat Buff Packs (health, action etc) will benefit because u can either:

  1. lower the med use with 1 pt to below 90

  2. add extra charges (up to 5) with the left over points

in my opinion, 5 charges can make a big difference when selling. i had some guy on my server try to sell me 905 rating, 92 med use 19 charge buff packs for 30k. i played along with him for a bit. the fact is that with the exact same materials, i could make probably a 27 charge pack with the exact same stats.

Poison/Disease resist packs

12 points makes a world of difference here. after making power, naturally u put the remaining points into duration. 1 experiment point is equal to 350 seconds of duration. 2 points is 700 seconds (maybe a bit less). but if u put a 2300 second pack vs a 3000 second pack, that extra 700 seconds (over 10 mintues) is huge.
