This is meant to be a guide for doctors who want to make money with their profession. This merely an idea, it worked for me, and should work for you if you do it right.
** Note: this is not a get rich quick scheme. This will probably take you well over a month, maybe more if you're just a casual player, it took me about 4 or 5 months, and I only play like 3 hrs a day, if that, and I'm by no means rich, but am getting there.
Intro
I'm going to assume you know...
1. what minerals are required for med components and products
2. how to do general crafting
3. how to buff a person
4. how to use med clothes / droid / bivoli etc
... basically this is not a guide on "how do I do this?" it's a guide for "ok i know whats going on with the profession, but how do I profit from it?"
There are many routes to becoming a profitable doctor, we're only going to explore3 of them, as one leads into the other. they are
Buff Doctors - these are the doctors that hang around starports and major cities buffing people in lines etc
Crafting Doctors - these doctors make the products that they sell to other medics and docs
the 3rd one is a mixture of the first 2
ok now we got the basics, let's get started.
Starting Gear
you're gonna need all of this stuff before we get going
1) Med droid with a med use of 110 (please don't get a 21B surgical droid)
2) Some sort of medical pants
3) Small crate of +24 or better bivoli
4) At least two sets of buffpacks, level D
look to spend about 300k or so getting these goods, or if you're guilded, you could get probably the pants and the droid, cutting it about in half.... yes I know 300k is a lot to get by doing missions and stuff, but remember while you're doing missions you can loot credits, or get resources to sell, or get faction points you can sell.
at this point you're ready to start
pretty much at this point all you do is buff in starports and make money, you're initial 300k should turn around to about 500k at 10k per buff, go 12k if you get good enough packs. at this point, all you do is restock and repeat until you have a decent amount of bank. this will probably take you a week or two, depending on how much business you are doing.
if this is all you want to do with your character, stop reading. the only thing you can do to better yourself is to find a cheaper vendor for your stuff, or find a place will people will pay you more. this can get to be very lucrative, but also very time consuming, and also quite boring. i personally reccommend to you that you keep going if you want to see the big money.
ok so after you get about 1 to 2 mil you're ready to start the next phase. the more money you have now the easier it's going to be.
time to go shopping! you're going to need:
the prices in this section are averages based on my server, they may and will vary.
a small or medium house, mediums are bigger, have the same lot usage and item storage, they just look nice - 65k
2 food and chemical crafting stations, 40+, trust me, you'll want 2. - 60k
3 food and chemical factories - 75k
at least 1 really good food and chemical crafting tool - 2k
3 chemical extractors - 100k
3 mineral extractors - 100k
4 floral farms - 120k
3 water vaporaters - 100k
survey tools - 2k
at least business 3 artisan, i recommend novice merchant with any management treeu can fit into your template
100k energy - 2-300k
ok now that we have all we need to start, we need to start making produc. to max out our profit potential, we're going to want to make:
stim b's
stim d's
wound b's
res packs
buff packs
the easiest thing for a doc to make and be profitable is stim b's. you'll find that if you concentrate on these you're gonna be better off at the get go, because more than just docs buy these, anyone with novice medic will buy these, which means that if you make them good enough you can charge more for them.
but BEFORE we can make these, we need to make components:
advanced biological effect controllers (ABECs)
advanced liquid suspensions (ALS)
advanced chemical release duration mechanism (ACRDM)
what you specifically need for this can be found on any webpage, the best to use IMO is
www.swgcraft.com or just check your datapad if you're actually playing. these components require specific resources, and as such, getting ideal resources can be a pain, but you're just starting out, so and get as many resources of these as you can, regardless of how good they are. you can always trade them or sell them to grinders and buy better.
this is not a quick process, you'll need thousands of components and subsequently, even more resources. make use of all your lots, extract as much as you can of resources you need that have high OQ and high PE. this is the HARDEST part about being a crafting doc, at least for me. 5 power in your componentsis gonna mean5 less power in your end product, which can make a big difference. dont rush this step, it is crucial. you'll find more often than not that you'll find yourself back at this step more than any other. swgcraft.com and swgcreatures.com really help with this a lot.
tips: talusian water vapor and dantooine berry fruit is usually pretty good all the time, at least on my server. you're going to need the least amount of these resources than any other. generally speaking, when I make something that requires "organic" i either use Dantooine Berry Fruit or Domesticated Oats.
at this point you should have a bunch of resources, except for herbivore meat

that will be the hardest to get a lot of.
make a factory schematic for each of your components. you're going to want to make at least 500, more if you get decent resources and feel confident. if you're not sure, with PERFECT RESOURCES, this is what you're components will look like
ABEC - 25 power/ 25 charges
ALS - 200 power (good is 150+)
ACRDM/ASDS - 75 power (good is 60+)
after you get your components, start making as many stim B's as you can, 300+ is nice. if you can get the power over 400 you can probably charge about 5k per, times 300 = 1.5mil. this will get your name out there, and as you are selling, keep updating your minerals, until you have lots of good components. you'll eventually peak out on stims, start making woundpacks too.
this part here will require the most creativity and self thinking for yourself. the most successful thing you can do for yourself is, monitor resources that you may or do need. and when a good one comes around, extract the sh*t out of it. having too much is good, you can always sell them later, or trade for what you need. a lot of docs do trade.
after you've got the stim thing down, and you feel confident that you've been maintaining a good invenory and customer base, shift gears to buff packs. the only thing different is now you need ASDS, reactive gas, and avian meat. if you had been keeping up to date on your resources, you should have a decent stock of gas, dolovite iron, and domesticated oats. the only thing is that avian. ALWAYS keep an eye out for good avian. this is the most expensive resource for docs. the best thing you can do for yourself is to keep up on it, and take ur freinds and guildmates out to go get it when a good spawn hits.
granted there are other ways to do what i said to do these are just my thoughts and what i have done for me to make it work. feel free to tweak it as you see. i know there's more to this, i could write a book if i really wanted to. just trying to give people an idea of the level of involvment it takes to be a good crafting doc. if you have any questions or comments about this, post it back, like i said, its just one way.
/salute to you all doctors, new and old!
