Thread: Question about Doctor skills and Buffing

I am fairly new to SWG, I just got Novice TKA a few days ago and I'm looking to possibly go Master TKA/Master Brawler and if possible learn enough Doctor skills to buff myself fairly well.

My question is, what type of skills would I need to:

1. Create myOWN stimpacksand be able to buff myself

OR

2. Buy stimpacks and buff myself

Additionally, which method have you all found to be the most efficient, I imagine that either route I would have to fork out a good amount of cash which probably wont be a problem in the near future, I have about 1 million credits on my character that my brother gave me plus I dont think I'll have any trouble earning them as a Master TKA.

Maybe this sounds a bit uneducated, but in my limited experiencewith SWG, anytime I've had buffswith modifiers of at least 1000-1500, I've really had no problem hunting solo, and that was back when I was grinding through Unarmed. Basically, if you have the time, explain to me what kind of Doctor skills I can learn and what quality of buffs those skills would grant me.

Thanks much,

Scourge/Flurry

Ok, first thing first, so that we can avoid confusion, stim packs heal damage, enhancement packs are used to buff stats.

Ok, with that out of the way, you have a number of options.

First, you could master doctor. That would give you the ability to make and use the best enhancement packs out there. It's a big investment, but the only way to be able to make all the best packs and use them in the best way. Also of note is the fact that only master doctors can make the best enhancement packs for the secondary attributes (strength, quickness, etc). If you don't go master doctor, you'll probably be buying packs, which can be difficult on some servers, as not many doctors sell them (the ingredient list is a nightmare to keep in stock).

Second, you could sample doctor (which is very popular). Even within sampling, you have a number of options.

First of all, the bare minimum requirements... You must get Wound Treatment 2 in order to acquire the /healenhance skill. WIthout it, you can't use an enhancement pack. Second, you need to have a high enough medicine use skill to use the pack (your skill must be equal to or higher than that of the pack in order to use it).

Different packs have different medicine use requirements. Obviously, the more powerful the pack, the higher the med use requirement will be. The weakest packs can be used at Novice Doctor while the most powerful packs are hard to use for anyone that isn't a Master Doctor. Most often, if you want to buff yourself, you'll need to get to Medicine Knowledge 4 for the best packs or Medicine Knowledge 3 for the second best packs.

Also, the power of your enhancement is gauged partially on your Wound Treatment skill. So, as you advanced up the Wound Treatment line, you'll gain bonuses to that skill and be able to buff better.

Overall, I think the most common sampling template is 0/4/4/0. That gives you the best buffs you can do without being a master doctor and provides the ability to rez. You won't, however, be able to craft any high level meds.

There's quite a bit of info on this in the FAQ so, if you still have questions, I'd recommend checking that out.

If you master TK and brawler you'll only be able to go 0/3/4/0 in doctor. You should be able to buy good 90 med use buffs and buff for decent numbers with that.

I did a little bit a of planning with the Character Builder myself and found out the same you did Jason, the most I can do is Master TK/Master Brawler and Doctor 0-4-3-0 which is what I've "heard" is the most common Doctor sampling route, will 0-3-4-0 as you mention be as good or better....or about the same?

0/3/4/0 you can use experimented down to 90 med use D buffs.

0/4/3/0 you can rez but can't use D buffs.

Go with the first one since you're main goal is buffing yourself.

And another thank-you for the replies - just the question I was going to ask as I have a second (politician) account who sits around doing nothing 90% of the time. Might be time to put the lazy begger to work
