please tell me this isn't so.
Doc crafting is one of the enjoyments I have in the profession, I have no desire to pick up BE just to craft meds.

So don't pick up Master. No one is forcing you to pick up all four tiers of BE.

True but will I have the SP to pick up BE crafting and keep my current template?

Bio-Engineer Profession Changes

Pre-requisite: novice medic crafting line.

  • All crafting skill mods and all crafting schematics moved into this tree.

  • I am not sure what they mean by "tree". If it is only the 4 crafting boxes then you may be right. However, currently there is a +25 in the master BE box. If they do not move these +25 points then if you only got the 4 crafting boxes you would be short 3 exp points resulting in your meds only being able to be experimented 7/10ths as well as a master BE. A rather painful shortfall.

It does, however, suggest that the crafting line of medic will not hold anything.

Tree means branch or line... probably someone who hadn't had enough sleep wrote that. Medic crafting has stim b's and all the components needed to make them. Not sure what is happening with experimentation.

I just dont understand the reasoning behind removing crafting. I liked the statement that doctors didnt like being tied to a factory making meds.

I for one enjoyed making my own meds. I enjoyed selling them, and I enjoyed being the underdog in a medical market and slowly taking chunks out of my goliath competition.

I also liked what some dev did/didnt say about us being greedy apparently. Thats just lovely. The money is the motivation for crafting. No one would do it if there wasnt money involved. But to say were greedy is insulting at best.

    /shrug

I've since picked up WS and will most likely not be picking up BE to continue to craft. I just hope that my resource stocks dont go completely useless on me, so I can atleast sell them to help my WSing along.

I don't think BE is going to hold anything that we actually need to use. I think those people picking up BE just to "Craft" for us healers are making a mistake. All abilities sound like they are skill based. I think the need for BE's during/after the CU will stay pretty close to what it is now. Unless SOE does some craziness on them.

BE's will craft Enhancers....that we don't really need to function. And people can use those Enhancers, but far less then what a MD can do. Therefore what I will do is not buy any Enhancers. If people want buffs they better have the consumables to give me.

You just explained why they are moving Crafting.People weren't play the profession as intended. They weren't healing. And for that reason alone I person go flamedmany times now for pointing that out to people in the past. They were buffers and crafters....not healers. Doctor is*NOT* a crafting profession....it's considered a Support Combat Profession. Now SOE is just putting the dot on the Exclamation point. You either pick to be a Crafter....a healer.....Or both and give up another Master Profession. The days of people being only "Crafters" Yet still having thier Healing and Buff Abilities are over. And honestly I'm happy with that.

I've been saying it for a long long time. Playing the Doctor professionmakes you a Doctor....not the Macro's you use to get there. And people took offense to that. Well guess what....I was right. If your gonna be a Healer...thats what your gonna do, otherwise sacrifice yourtemplate and get BEso you can be a Healing, Buffing, Crafting Doctor.

    Buffs= no need for healing

It was either start buffing or be useless as a doc.
I spent most of my time crafting or sitting in the cantina healing wounds. Not even my medic skills were needed in the field.

The solution to that is not to remove crafting from the Doc skills. It is to remove the secondary buffs so healing is necessary.

From what I can see they are takeing things a bit too far and turning the game into EQ2 in space.

I dont like your implication there. Just because I enjoyed crafting doesnt mean that thats all I did. I went out with people on krayt hunts, NS hunts, etc, played the padawan ambulance etc. I played a doctor. I healed wounds most of my way to master.

Exactly......Which is also why they made buffs less usefull....so now.....No Buffs = Healing. There is no need to craft anymore.

I'm not saying thats what we all did. And I am just going to take my response to another thread to break it down even more.....

Sadly that harsh truth of the matter is Most did not. Those Doctors that have been around a long time know that buffing is not a "Cash Crop". It's good for a quick buck and thats about it. So we have no one else to blame but ourselves for letting people come in here everyday asking how to cheat themselves, the system, and the players.....and the thing that makes me mad is thatpeople just gave them everything they needed to do so.

It takes skill to be a Doctor....not a macro, or a tumbler, or ABECs in practice mode...skill....and some people either forgot that or just didn't care. It's not the point. All doctors came off to the GP as Tumbler using, Macro Cheating, ABEC practice mode crafting......Buff Bots.

And frankly I don't blame SOE one bit for putting a stop to it. In fact I'm very glad they are. Now I can get back to the profession at which I know how to play without having to worry about griefers and AFKers destroying my reputation as "a Doctor"

I never once buffed for cash. I made my own meds to keep me and my freinds alive on hunts. So now I can't do that.
