Thread: experimentation result question

So I have a question about experimentation:

It seems that there are several 'results' of an experimentation attempt. Mostly I get 'great'. Sometimes I get 'amazing' and sometimes I get 'failure'.

However - my question is this:

Are there ONLY those five (six?) results from an experimentation? Or - is it that the result of an experimentation can vary along a continuous scale from 'failure' to 'amazing' - and it's then the UI that just prints out on your screen the text that most closely matches your actual result (e.g. 1-5% might print 'average', and 5-10% might print 'great')

The question has relevance because I try to always drink Bespin Port when I craft - but I still normally only get 'great' successes when doing it (the same as I would get from a non-port craft normally). But - if the scale is continuous then I can be assured that actually my 'greats' are better than normal 'greats' and thus it's worth drinking port

Please let me know if this has already been answered too!

Cheers

Each type of success or failure affects the experimental pectentage by a set amount. The only time you'll see anything other than those amounts are when you are experimenting on a line that affects multiple stats (like the effectiveness line on buff packs). In those cases, the reported success is actually an average from the two separate experimentation rolls.

so this confirms that there are only those five (six) results available from an experiementation attempt... so a 'great' without Bespin Port is the same as a 'great' with Bespin Port...?

That's right. Bespin port gives you a better chance at getting an amazing success, and a lesser chance of any kind of failure. But, a great success with it is exactly the same as one without it.
