Thread: New Doctor--Why do my buff packs suck so much?
Whenever I received buffs, the duration was 12000+ seconds and buffs were often 1-2 K in enhancements?
How come my buff packs are sucking. Please be specific and tell me what i need to do to remedy problem. thanks
When you are crafting your packs AND your sub-componants (Advanced ones work ALOT better) you will read what stats on your ingredients affect what quality..ie. OQ means alot, but not everything, since its PE (Potential Energy) thatmakes buffs last longer..
Please answer these questions to help us help you a little better:
What is the average OQ/PE of the resources you're using?
Are you using Advanced Solid Delivery Shells, Adv. CRDMs and Adv BECs or the regular ones? Were they made and crated before you made Master Doc?
Where are you putting your experimentation points for each sub-componant? How about the final Enhance pack?
Avian Meat -- I will have to check
Biologic effect controller -- I had to but these per crate since it will only accept them from crates--i don't know how to make crates? can i? Same for the other controller required.
I'll have to check everything else. But i wasn't using any advanced components and I don't even know what experimentation is
Well...
For starters, a pack with a nominal 500 rateing, would often be able to buff someone over 1K. A 500 rating is still very low however and I'd suspect the problem being lousy materials on the final combine. If your starting point after the combine is say 12%, no matter how many experiment points you have, it's going to end up a lousy pack, since your going to hit the max at a low level, probably in the 50% range if your lucky.
Just like stim healing, a lousy roll will give you a low buff, as well as if your target has Battle Fatigue, your assured of a lousy stat buff. Adding all high stat advanced components to the thing when your making it, will only raise it's base slightly, but when mixed with great combine materials, will let you experiment a pack up to 90ish easily. Obviously, finding these great materials (in particular Avian) isn't all that easy. If you read the excellent FAQ that is stickied in this forum, it gives the exact formulas for calculating how good a specific material is, for what you need it to do.

I thinkDR isa factor in enhancement duration - and PE is a factor in effectiveness, might be wrong though. But this guys packs are pretty darn low, even before experimentation my packs are usually around 330ish with them experiemented up to 700+ or so.
I guess if you are having problems - Get yourself the best chem crafting unit you can find 14+, plop yourself down infront of a good private crafting station, experiment for effectivenss when crafting them by hand, grind anything below great and amazing successes (though this isn't "always" true but a good rule of thumb in most cases), use the best reactive gas (highest OQ for power and DR for duration) and avian meat (OQ and PE for power, DR for duration) you can find and use all advanced components that have been crafted with the best stuff you can find with ABECS's built for power rather than charges.
That is pretty much it.
One other thing I forgot to mention. You NEED a 110% rated droid to do buffs. DO NOT buff someone in a small starter camp with a 35 med rating, or your buffs will be 1/3 of what they could have been. The med rating is what determines one of the important statistic (hospitals are 100%) anything less than that, will hurt you badly when you try and buff someone. So get a good droid, and a case of batteries, your going to need them.

This will be a (somewhat) guide to crates, factories and crafting in general and I'll try not to skip around ... ![]()
Let's get some terminology out of the way first ![]()
Crates: When something is made in a factory, you end up with identical componants and they are bundled together in a crate.
Factory: There are different types of factories (Food/Chemical, Structure and Equipment). For Medicines you will want a Food and Chemical factory, on my server (Radiant) they cost around 40-60k credits and, as far as I know, there are no differences in Food/Chem factories no matter who makes them (IE, there is no different stats on them, factories are factories). You place a schematic, power and your ingredients in to make crates.
Schematic: When you craft near a crafting station with a specialized tool (in this case a Food/Chem crafting kit near a Food/Chem station) you will see 3 options: Experiment, Get Prototype and Make Schematic. To make a schematic you first make an item like you normally would, experiment on it to get maximum performance out of it and then chose Make a Schematic. Next it will allow you to select the number of items you wish to create (1-1000).
Experimenting: When using a specialized crafting tool near a specialized station you are allowed to experiment, or 'tweak' whatever you are making. Without Experimentation something like a Biological Effect Controller may have 'rating' of 4 charges/5 effectiveness (numbers made up). Through experimentation you can alter those numbers to maybe end up with 8 charges/6 effectiveness, thereby making the end product better. There are different levels of success/failures on experimenting, so you may have to make more than 1 product to end up with a 'great' or 'near perfect' one
OK, with that out of the way, here is a brief walkthrough or makingan Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanicsm (Adv CRDM) in a factory.
This will require you to buy a Food/Chemical Factory. We will also figure that you have 1000 units of Herbivore meat and 1000 units of Class 4 Liquid Petro fuel. (For the sake of this tutorial all numbers will be made up)
Near a Food/Chemical station you start your Food/chem crafting tool. Select Advanced CRDM. You will then load your 16 units of Herbivore meat and 16 units of Class 4 Liq Petro to make one and click next. When prompted you will select Experiment. Adv CRDMs only have 1 stat to them: Experimental Effectiveness. You will try to max out that stat (each componant has a stat that is its most beneficial to experiment on). When you click done experimenting you will chose the option "Create Manufacturing Schematic." The next screen will ask you how many to create. Here you will need to use math to determine how many you can make with your resources. Schematics are VERY specific in that you can only use the same materials you used when making the schematic. You started with 1000 units of both Herb and Class 4 and have already used 16 of each, so 1000-16=984 left of each resource. Using a calculator (Hey, I'm lazy) we find out that we have enough Herb/CLass4 to make 61.5 Adv CRDMs. Since we can't make the .5 we select 61 units. You now need to have your factory setup (USE the deed). Factories require power and maintanence credits to run. Load some power (a few thousand units lasts a few days) and a few thousand credits (also good for a few days). The 4th option on the Factory Radial menu has an option called Load Schematic. Select that and a list of schematics you've made (in this case only this one) will be pulled up. Select your Adv CRDM schematic. Under the same 4th option you'll see Access Ingredient Hopper. Select that and put in your 984 units of Herbivore meat and Class 4 Liquid Petro. Once you have power, money, the schematic and the needed ingredients loaded select Start Manufacturing Items and that's it. The item complexity and number of items to make will determine how long it will take (61 Adv CRDMs will probably take 3 hours or so roughly).
When done you will have 2 crates of Adv CRDMs, one of 50 and another of 11 (50 items is the limit per crate). All 61 CRDMs will be "identical" since they came from the same factory "run."
That's pretty much it. To make crates of something like stims or enhance packs, you will first need to make crates of the subconants since all factory 'runs' can only use the same exact ingredients/parts as what is made to use the schematics.
Arthemis, the easiest way for us to tell you what you are doing wrong is to post exactly what you are using to make your buff pacs so we can tell you what you are doing wrong.
Tell us each stat on the avian meat and gas you are using, and the stats on each of the subcomponents.
Just to make sure, you are using all advanced components right? And you are experimenting fully right?
No, I wasn't using advanced components. See, the item calls for two or more identical components from a factory crate. I do not know how to make factory crates so I have to buy my items off the bazaar. The only items for sale on the bazaar by the factory crate are the run of the mill versions, not the advanced versions. And I wasn't experimenting either since I did not even know what that is.
