Thread: Now I'm healing faster than my mind can regen??
I've completed the first tier in Doctor. And now it seems like I am able to heal my patients faster than my mind can regenerate, so I am frequently getting the "mind too drained" message during healing. This has happened in the presence of my 110 medical droid and while alternating wound healing and buffing on my patients.
What's causing this? Is it because of my droid, I'm using up more mind because I'm healing bigger?
Is there anything I can do about it? I checked to see if I could migrate my stats, but my mind is at 1100 and it seems like it won't go higher. (I'm human.) If I used higher grade wound packs or buffs, would they use up less mind?
Any answers would be appreciated, thanks.
Don't forget your 2 mind secondary stats...
the first lowers mind coust when you use meds, the 2nd increases your mind regen.
Are you sure you don't ahve damage to focus and willpower? That may be slowing you down.
After that, I dunno what happened. The droid should not be affecting you... I'm pretty sure the mind cost is by pack ( or even jsut attached to /healdamage /healwound), not by amount healed.

Rather than boosting your mind pool, try boosting your focus or willpower pools. High focus means that you'll use less mind points when you heal and high willpower means that you'll regenerate mind points faster. I'll be you'd have better results by dropping mind by 200 and raising focus and willpower by 100 each.
If you want to try a little test, buy some food that enhances focus and willpower and see what you think.
No, I don't have anywounds at all. (Forgot to say that part.) I think I have 25 or so BF, but would that be an issue?
So can I take points from mind and apply them to focus and willpower? or do those points have to come from a different sub-pool? Stat migration is still somewhat of a mystery to me.
I will try the food experiment, I know a chef who might be able to help me out.
Thanks for your suggestions.
You can move points from anywhere to anywhere with stat migration. That means that you can move points from health to willpower just like you can move points from strength to willpower or mind to willpower. The key here is to know what the attributes do and what they mean to you.
The primary attributes (Health, Action, and Mind) are your pools. These get used up when you get hit in combat or perform a special action. Various actions pull from different pools. As you've already noticed, healing pulls from mind. Sampling resources pulls from Action. Some combat moves pull from Health. If any of these pools goes to 0, you become incapacitated.
Then there is the first group of secondary attributes: Strength, Quickness, and Focus. These determine HOW MUCH of the primary pools get used up when you perform a special action. For example, if you have very high Focus, you'll find that little of your mind pool is used up when you heal someone. However, if you have low Focus, you'll find that a lot of your mind points get used up when you heal. It's the same for Stregth and Quickness with Health and Action, respectively.
Lastly, we have the second group of secondary attributes: Constitution, Stamina, and Willpower. These impact the regeneration rates of each of the pools. If you have a very high Willpower rating, you'll find that your mind pool regenerates much faster than if you had a low Willpower rating. Likewise for Constitution and Stamina.
So, as a medic, you're going to want to up your Mind, Focus, and Willpower accordingly. Where you pull those stats from, though, is up to you. Do you have any other skills? My character, for example, is a doctor primarily but I'm also a carbineer. Being a carbineer, my special moves burn up my action pool very fast. Therefore, I can safely pull as many points as possible from Strength - I don't pull from my health pool, anyway, so why do I care how much gets burned from there. I probably want to keep at least some points in Constitution, though, or I'll find that it takes a long time to regenerate health. With Quickness, though, I'll probably want to keep some points there or I'll end up killing myself performing special moves.
But, to be totally honest with you, I've pulled just about all of my points out of all health and action related attributes and put them all into my mind related attributes. Why? Buffs. I'm a master doctor and can enhance my attributes to well over 2000 except for my mind stats. When I'm going out hunting, I just buff the important stats and I'm on my way.
Be aware, though, that stat migration takes a long time. It doesn't happen instantly.
Welcome to the world of Doctor.
This has nothing to do with your stats or wounds (although you might want to make sure your stats are migated properly). Its perfectly normal and you'll experience it for the rest of the time that you spend as a Doc.
Just slow down on the heals.
