Thread: Organ Harvesting--Fun for All Ages
I'd just like to direct attention to a thread on the BH board that concerns doctors as well (in a good way):
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bounty_hunter&message.id=65411&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
Please forgive my ignorance but how would these organs be of any value to a doctor? Moreover, wouldn't it take a doctor to properly extract the organs? I simply can't see a BH skilled in tearing bones, skin or meat from a dead animal corpses as being qualified to perform the delicate proceedure of removing the liver from a humanoid corpse...
I am replying here as opposed to the original post on the BH boards for fear of being flamed for "trolling a board in which I don't belong". (some people are a bit too sensitive about who can post in "their" boards). Amusingly enough, most BH's that replied to the original post thought this was a great idea.
Thanks for the laugh, you made my day!

I don't think you quite get it. It would be a way for you to make money--the BH brings you organs and you process them fora fee and return them. The BH then sells them to a smuggler who can smuggle them to a med center and sell them for a profit and smuggling xp.
I agree that it makes more sense for the doctor to do the actual extraction, but logistically it won't work. Do you really want to follow a BH on a mission to BFE, Endor so that you can harvest the organs? Perhaps the BH brings the whole body back to you frozen in carbonite or something; there are ways to make it logical.

Well, honestly, I don't think you are ever going to see something like human organ harvesting in SWG. I think it cause the ESRB Rating to go from 'Teen' to 'Mature' because it's, well, kind of macabre. Yes, I know we have Organ donation/harvesting in the US, but in the context of SWG what you'd have is people 'killing/murdering' npc humanoids to harvest their organs. That's something quite different from people signing a card that says, essentially, when I die naturally you can take my organs and give them to someone who needs them.
Have you ever played EQ?
In that game--also by SOE--you can harvest all kinds of organs and body parts from sentient beings (including humans). And they're often used for BAKING.
"I don't think you quite get it." - You must be right, I am still having trouble figuring out what the person who ends up with these organs is supposed to do with them...
" Do you really want to follow a BH on a mission to BFE, Endor so that you can harvest the organs?" - Sure, if I get a 50% cut of the reward! But only if we can do some Pubam missions on the way.

BHs, Doctors, and Smugglers all profit from them (BH pays doctor to process them, smuggler pays BH for processed organs, smuggler smuggles them to a med center and sells for a profit). The final destination is the med center (or cloning facility or whatever). There they areused for transplants/cloning/whatever. For instance, to grow an actual clone of a 30-year-old takes 30 years, but perhaps they can assemble body parts and then change DNA to match a target signature to do the insta-clones we are used to in SWG.
OK, that's a bit too Frankensteinish, but the use of the organs by med centers could be justified about as well as the current insta-cloning thing (which makes little sense, actually).

I hate to burst your bubble, but the "reward" for a BH mission to Endor is like 1k, if it turns a profit at all. Hardly worth your time.
Well, I can tell from the one star rating and negative posts that you guys don't appreciate what I'm trying to do. I just thought it would be fun to propose a change that helped my own class while helping other classes at the same time, instead of just asking to have the abilities of other classes. You know, like actually trying to work together instead of against each other. Next time I'll leave doctors off the list, since you consider it such an insult.
Oh, and thanks so much for one-starringthe original postso that most people can't even read it. Real classy. Excuse me for trying to be nice to you guys.
