Thread: Are any of you retired combat medics?

We're wondering how many of you doctors were once combat medics that decided to migrate into the doctor profession. If you did "retire" from the life of the combat medic and decide to take up the role of a doctor, can you tell us why you made the switch?

Just curious if you are the medical profession developer? If so can you do me a favor and wake up the DE developer and show him what you just posted? I would fall over dead if I saw a post like that in regards to droids.

although i didn't retire, i rather just stopped advancing in combat medic in favor of doctor. The key reason for this, is its easy to get medical exp when in large groups, so once i get nearly master docter (everything except wound speed) i'll be done with medic skills. I have enough healing to completely heal a player incapped, and once i can revive i'll be set. Its much easier to max out medical skills compared to combat professions, and its absolutly impossible to get good weapon exp when you're running around healing the group. Healing is just way to slow when shooting, so i prefer to use my weapon, and heal when the battles over, which is perfect for a doctor

I never went up the combat medic tree. In fact I am not a full master medic yet. So you may not be looking for my input but I can at least tell you why I will chose be picking doctor over combat medic. Points! I want to make a melee/combat medic but the prereqs for CM just do not allow me to max out both. I have to invest 29 points in the marksmen tree skills thatI will never use as a melee.Even after that investment I will fall 11 points short ofmaxing both a melee and CM. I wish this could be changed somehow, as I really wanted to climb the CM tree but it isjust too costly as a meleeand you willneverhave enough points to attain Master.

Well i am a Master combat medic / Master Doctor and i find it a lot harder to make items for the combat medic than it is for a doctor... Most stimpacks and wound packs in the doctor tree only require organics and inorganics...as in the combat medic tree, to make the ranged you will need aluminum, organic, inorganic, and the higher ones you will need aluminum, radioactive and what not... nearly 4x the work than as a doctor...

It's very time consuming to put those items together, so i think that's the reason i see a lot of ppl only take up the trees in combat medic which let them use ranged stimpacks, and master the doctor tree. Ranged stimpacks are a blessing but like i said, to make the good stuff takes nearly 4x the trouble than making doctor stims.

Well I started doctor, then gave it up to go CM, then decided to do both. I'm 1 crafting box away from master CM, and seriously considering giving it up completely.

Before Holo got my PM yesterday about the crafting issues, there has been virtually NO communication with the CM community at all. None of our issues have been addressed (until now, now that Holo says the crafting issues are being addressed - depending on how quickly the typos and adv. resilience compound issues get fixed I may stay CM), or even acknowledged.

The crafting issues alone are extremely frustrating to deal with. Earning CM in the first place is a long road due to the requirement for ranged support. And then hours of crafting to get useful ranged meds/poisons, only to find out that the best stuff can't be crafted, because you can't use all advanced components on anything, and that area poisons/diseases can't be used because of an outrageous CM med use mod requirement (900) was almost enough to make me drop it.

Not to mention the fact that if our poisons/diseases kill anything nobody gets loot.

Oh, and did you guys even notice that our correspondent quit? The fact that I have to ask that question at all is another reason I've thought about giving up CM completely. The profession doesn't seem to be anywhere on the Dev's radar screen (again, except for holo responding to the crafting issue yesterday) unless people cry about our poisons/diseases enough for us to get nerf'd.

I'm giving it until I find out the ETA on the crafting issuefix. If that gets fixed soon then I can at least make use of the profession until some of the bigger issues get worked out. Those are mainly typo fixes, and shouldn't take long at all to take care of. If we don't get an ETA or a reasonable one in the next day or two, I doubt I'll keep CM. These have been issues for weeks if not months. Why should I stay in a profession that can't use it's best tools? Or one that no one at Sony seems to care about?

I don't think my attitude is unreasonable, or uncommon. I understand that big issues take a while to fix. And I understand that you guys are busy working to make the game better. But over the last few weeks a simple, we know about these issues and are working on a fix would have made me happy. Or, a "doh, your correspondent quit, we'll begin recruiting a replacement soon, and will make an effort to resolve correspondent issues" would have worked. The only thing we got was a LOS requirement on our meds/poisons. Not any kind of acknowledgement whatsoever.

If this continues I'll just master doctor and use the skill points from CM on my weapon. Doctor has issues too (and from what i understand the same 'not on the radar' problem CM's do), but at least the best tools are craftable, and there aren't any issues that make playing the profession feel like a waste of time.

So probably within the next few days I'll be a retired CM.

Oh and ask Raph to answer this logic question below.

ham : cheese

bacon : eggs

star wars : _______

A. creatures

B. droids

And slap him really hard when he answers A

Sorry to post this here, It's just Ican see that you work for lucas arts and may actually realize that the magic of your star wars franchise is slowly being erroded in the minds of the players of this game. It happens everytime they reluctantly choose a powerful creature to companion with over the star wars droid that they really want just because the power and diversity of combat droids are soweak by comparison.

Was a combat medic and left due to broken skills. Landing poison (ranged a) 1 in 10 tries for 12 exp is pointless. Took up doctor skills because they work,

Well, actually I went Master Dr 1st, and headed up the combat tree for CM. After accomplishing the needed ranged combat skills I looked around and it seemed there were a bazillion CM's in the making. So I decided to be really different and get the rest of the needed skills for SL and go as far into that as my points would allow.

**Hopefully after the dev'sgive SL's a reason to live, that profession will be a good compliment to my MD skills. ~crosses fingers~

Master doc/cm here. The resource requirements for cm are just insane given the fact the resist rate for the dots are off the charts. Requires alot more effort to maintain pack supply for cm then it does for doctor given the resources needed and the resists rate. While ranged healscan begodsent its nothing a macro of /follow;/heal cant achieve if the group is smart (though is tougher vs those npcs that have dizzy effect) but other then that the profession trees arent worth it. I will say however the dots are great in pvp (if you can get them to land) but really with buffs and res there is no reason to be a cm over a doctor.

1. No fix's for what seem to be very simple typo error problems. Ranged Stim E's I believe require 13 identical components, forgive me if I named the wrong stim but it is one of the higher ones. The Advanced Resilliance Compound Schematic still can't be opened. Not sure which but one of our items has a med use requirement of 745, or there abouts, instead of 74 maybe.

2. Combat Medics should be able to heal mind damage, be it at the master level if nothing else. Since we are the "combat" medics in the game and since 90% of all PvP and PvE involving humaniods with weapons results in incap or death by the mind damagedictates a need for there to be some means of healing mind damage. I am not talking about wounds, that is a well established entertainer area, but damage. Make it a Master Combat Medic skill. This would make combat medics more useful tool in the game. It would also allow for them have a means to make a living, since many truely specialized CM's with doctor rez and med use skills andan elite weapons skill do not have the necessary skill points to take up crafting professions for a means of income. Some would say this combination qould be too powerful but we would still have to rely on Master Doctors for the necessary meds for rezing, enhancing, and could make the Mind Damage meds a doctor crafting skill. And to keep it fair Mind meds would not be Area or Ranged, they must be given individually to the player. Make it a Master Combat medic skill only.

3. We are mainly a support class, but we are combat support. We should have some type of combat bonus's. Be it just a General Ranged Accuracy bonus, or perhaps a Defense Bonus since we are usually trying to help others and may not be able to engage our attacker. The Terrain Negitiation Bonus already talked about would be nice so that we can keep up with the groups we are supporting.

4. I can't give an honest opinion on poisons and disease as I have only used them a few times and never in PvP. They seem to be mostly a griefing tool in PvP, as the system stands now. They should be more powerful in PvE, with perhaps no agro for say 20 sec on aFirst Throw sucessful attempt as this could be considered a sneak attack, they would agro once they realized they had been poisoned.

No sir, after hearing about most of the same issues that Eli posted above, I decided combat medic was not worth my time.

I instead went to Master Doctor
