Thread: Have buffs been nerfed?

My buffs usually average around 2.2k and tops out at 3.3k but after the patch i have been buffing for much lower.

I constantly buff for 1100 and 1200ish with some buffs going 2300ish. Whats up?

It never fails. EVERY patch, someone gets a few poor rolls on a buff and cries nerf. Bad rolls happen - we all know that there is a huge range of variance when applying buffs.

Please, if you're afraid there are buff issues, take some samples. Record how much you buffed for and the power of your packs and we can take a look. And, honestly, for the data to be any use at all, you'll need to collect more data than the 12 charges you used on yourself and your buddy.

I don't really mean to be rude, but this happens EVERY patch.

A few other docs have reported similar results which fuelled my paranoia. You wont be so smug though when you realize that we have infact been stealth nerfed

I eas waiting for this thread to open up. It just wouldnt feel right without a "OMG they stealth nerfed buffs!" thread after a patch. I think that they would put it in the patch note if they changed something with the buffs since it is one of the most important things for a doctor.

I know this is brought up every patch, but I have noticed the same thing. In roughly 20 buffs (I know, small sample) I only averaged 1 buff over 2k per set, whereas pre-patch I typically got 3 over 2k. The high end on the buffs that went over 2k seemed to be the same as before....I hit several 26-2900's with my highest last night being 2999. Also, my number of buffs below 1400 seemed to increase. Below 1400 is where I kinda notch a mental note that it was a sub-par buff. I gave money back on 4 sets of buffs because I had 3+ buffs below that 1400 mark in the set and felt terrible. Typically in a night of buffing I might give money back once....there is always that one guy that gets totally shafted by the roll and you start diagnosing hoping it is because of BF.

By the way, my kits range in power from 706 to 849 and I have +25 wound treatment clothing on.

I'm still working back up to master doc... My B packs seem to be operating exactly the same.

I have 2 words for you guys.

Hard Data.

I'm sure Traigus would be happy to go to the Devs ont eh Correspondent forum and find out if something is happening if he can show to them that something is, indeed, happening that is unusual.

If you guys really want to prove that every time we get a patch our buffs get nerfed, run the numbers in a controlled environment. Buff a Pet in a house with no droids around and don't change your clothes. Buff the pet, then store it, then call it and buff again.

Do that 5-10 times. Write down the base power of the buff pack and the result from each buff done.

Give us the numbers and we'll cruch them.

THEN hold on to those numbers, because the next publish that comes out you will want to do the exact same thing again. This time you can compare the old numbers with the new ones.

Nobody ever seems to want to bother doing this, though. For some reason they'd all just rather believe we got nerfed every publish. Of course if we did then I would be lucky if my high-end buffs ever got over 1k, let alone 2k.

sub par buff below 1400?. Ok i think we get a little unrealistic expectations with our abilities sometimes. With a 1000pt buff most players, people not spoiled on the most extreme buffing examples, will be more than satisfied with their longevity in playing and hunting. I used to be of a similar opinion that I should refund money for "poor" buffs. But you know what even an 800 pt buff is going to make a huge difference in how someone plays the game. If you want to maintain your "high" standards thats great. I applaud you. But I think we need to realize that any buff in the 1000's is a decent buff. anything in the 2000's is a good one, and if you hit 3000's your lucky.

Oh and since the patch I have been rolling out excellent buffs mostly in the mid to lower 2k. Almost hit the 3k mark last night on one. So I wouldn't think there was a nerf in this patch

I have +8, +6 (I cant remember the names for both)coat, shirt, pants, and a med 110 droid. my packs are d's with slightly above 800 rating and I use only two of the three advancedsub componentsto make them. I dont have the materials for advanced crm's. Anyone know who has class 4 liquid petro(thats not 50 creds a unit.) on bria?

I performed about 18 buffs last night and saw little to no difference from my normal range. Many of my buffs were around 2000 and I had a handful above 3000, which is pretty typical for me.

Like Zarlor said, it's all about HARD DATA. Having a gut feeling about something based on a few results is fine, but test it out and see what is really going on.

You said some other docs were saying the same thing? Of course they were. Bad rolls happen. For some reason, it seems easier to blame it on the patch rather than on our own crummy luck with the Gods of Randomness.

Show me number.. and way more then 5-10 (sorry Z, 5-10 is relatively meaningless with the range on buffs).

The random number generator in SWG is jsut as borked as the ones in othe games.. We get some serious streaks.

I was goofing around with one of my alts yesterday, healing someone, and I got max heals on my stimB 11 times in a row (wouldn't you want that to happen w/ yer buffs) before things settled down and stuff started to vary again. I think server lag may get you some problems with the Number generator (I was healing in a parking lot at the time).

I can't speak for all the other professions, but we have been notified of every change to the medical professiosn in advance... I think they are scared of Zarlor.

I wasn't trying to "prove" astealth nerf or anything, I just wanted to add what I had noticed. If a lot of people posted and said they noticed too, then that would encourage me to record each buff and come back here with hard data. I know in the long run it will all work out and some peeps will get great buffs tonight or whenever from me after the bad rolls I got last night. Last night I was just buffing because I had nothing better to do and it was the first night I can remember that I went/anon because I wasn'thappy with the buffs I was giving out....vs the typical reasons for going /anon (helping guildies, checking harvs, relief from buff spam, time for bed, etc)

Two things, T. 5-10 would be 5-10 slates of 6, so that would be 30-60 data points.

As for the not telling us stuff.... that's not strictly true. They've done quite a few changes without telling us but we've been pretty lucky in that virtually every instance I can think of was a stealth fix of just plain bugs we've had rather than any stealth nerfs.

And I'm sure I have them shaking in their boots by the sheer density of my voluminous posts.

"Oh drat! Z's posted another 10 page volume again! I can't read through all of that! Maybe we should just put it in a patch note next time."

Wait a minute... You're just as guilty as I am!
