Thread: Question for doctors from a ranger

Yes, I've jumped profession forums to learn something about doctors. A big complaint in the ranger forum is that we can't really do much that a scout can't do, we're just better at those things. Since Ranger and Doctor are similar in that they're the only two professions that require mastery of a single profession to get to. So I'm wondering if you fine doctors would be good enough to briefly describe the differences between a medic and a doctor.

Doctors gain the following abilities (most of them not at novice) over medics.

Cure Poison
Cure Disease
Cure States (Stun Blind Dizzy, Intimidate.. etc.)
Buffs of all Red and Green Stats.
Revive (bring back a dead character who has not recloned).

Significant ability increase over medics

Wound healing (all + modifiers to wound healing are in Doc. Medics have a fixed + wound healing score until they hit novice doc).

Crafting (docs get a lot more crafting Experimentation points to make medical equipment). This plays a huge role in medicine craftin.

No real increase

Damage healing (medics have all the + modifiers for damage healing and speed. Docs do gain 1 more stim (Stim E).

We can do all the things medics can do (healwounds, healdamage, firstaid) but crazy better. I'll try and list the additional abilities we have:


/healenhance (buffing)


/healstate (remove dizzy, stun, intimidated, blinded states) (did i forget any?)


/curepoison (remove poison state)


/curedisease (remove disease state)


/resuscitate (rezzing)


I forget when we get /dragincapacitatedplayer, whether that's a medic or doctor ability.


So basically we can cure any combat states except fire, we can buff, and we can rezz, in addition to just being uber at medic abilities.

not at you but, kinda....well ok towards you..but in a friendly way


there are so many...


medic: heal damage, tend wounds, craft stims and medical components in a limited capacity


Doctors: same as above, but tend MASSIVE amounts of wounds in one tick, make MUCH better stims and components......now for the good stuff,


cure states-dizzy, intimidate, blind, stun, miss any? we do em all w/ packs


cure poisons and deseases...easily, i dont care what a cm tosses at ya...a good master doc will nix it in a snap


enhance stats- make the wimpiest noob able to tank just bout anything if we know what were doing and have the resource quality we need, not to say hell be able to kill what hes tankin lol, but....it is possible to make someone regen so fast, mind aside, that they can take on things waaaay beyond there normal means.


comparing a master medic anda master doc is not even in the same ball park, now i may be tooting a little loudly but i love this profession....i love being a support character and keepin a team alive through the thickest battles.......


oh....nearly forgot....we can bring dead people back to life, that in itself is reason enuf to get it..altho imo should have been a masters only ability. but saying that isnt likely to make me many friends


on a personal note ima master tka as well..together they make a perdy good combo for any group or solo...i recomend it to the team players as well as the soloists

Thanks for all the quick feedback guys! I'm sure this will come in handy to some of my more verbose ranger pals.


Oh, and goodcentsguy, do you own a sub shop? Just curious.

From a crafting viewpoint, the doctor gets a large experimentation and crafting bonus that Medic's cant compete with from a final product quality standpoint.

So... Medics dont need High OQ / PE Herbivore and Avian meat in vast quantities
