The HAM use of your specials depends on secondary stats. Strength for health, quickness for action and focus for mind. Higher secondary stats results in lower HAM use.

When you're buffed, your strength and quickness are so high, that your specials don't use nearly any health and action. Your focus is not buffed, so the useage of your mind will be the same.

The other thing is, when your health and action is buffed, you will not see it on your HAM bars, when they get lowered by 40 or 50 points. But on an unbuffed mind bar you still will see a use of 20 points.

You never noticed mind since it drained much more slowly than action or health. Additionally, the little colored number that floats above your head is the stat that gets decreased the most. So without the buffs, you might see a green -42, but with a quickness buff, you might see a blue -9 (since that becomes the biggest stat loss).

So I got a full master Doc buff and when I used my specials,...they all used my mind pool. Can someone explain why this is?

I think what you mean is they ONLY used mind pool. Your specials probably used mind already -- you just didn't notice it as much, because the specials were using more of other stats.

With buffs to quickness and strength, the costs to health and action are basically eliminated.

Specials always use mind you just notice it more when buffed.
