Thread: Question about tips.
I just tried to post this but i dont think i hit the right button, trying again.
Theother dayI was standing by the ticket taker going to another city. This novice doctor walks up and pulls out his droid andstarts to heal my wounds. "only had like 120 health/action wounds." I turned to him and said Thank you. ThenI took the shuttle. WhenI zoned I get a tell from him saying thanks for the tip cheep wad. This got me confused. I was not in the medic center. I was not looking to get healed right then. Should i of tippedthis person for somethingI did not ask him to do ?Please tell me your thoughts.
please ignor my spelling to tired to check it.
I definitley don't expect tips at the starport or shttleport when I am healing for exp.
I got my best tip ever yesterday in the Theed medical center. I walked in and there were a coupld of doctors healing some tough combat guys. I saw an Image Designer sitting over in a corner. She was not beat up very badly at all, but I need exp, so I healed her. Imagine my shock when I got a 5K tip! :>![]()

Absolutely not. Tipping may be "expected" in the med center because, if you're headed to the med center, it's usually understood that you're there to be healed (there are exceptions, I know). Therefore, by entering the med center, you're implicitly asking the medical staff to heal you.
However, if you're just standing around minding your own business and someone heals you out of the blue, that was their choice. Also, it is your choice whether or not you'd like to tip them.
I once had someone walk up to me and heal my wounds while I was perusing the bazaar (I even had my Master Doctor tag over my head at the time). I doubt he expected a tip, but that's certainly not the way to go about getting one (although I did tip him).
If someone asks me to heal them, I expect to be paid. As such, I don't hope for a tip - I work out the fee ahead of time. If I heal someone out of the blue (which never happens anymore), I don't expect a tip and neither should anyone else, in my opinion.
I still don't understand why Doctors don't ask before they start throwing heals on to players. Sometimes, a player doesn't want a heal... they have every intention of visiting a guild mate or some other friend that is a Doctor so that that person can get the XP for the heals.
In my opinion, you should never tip any player that runs up to you and heals you without asking first (oustside of a medical center).
IMO if you don't request a service, you shouldn't feel obligated to tip.
That doesn't mean no tipping in the med center, the fact you're there is an implied request for healing
