Although I know what you are going to do, and I do not like the fact that you can...the only way you can do it now is to have them invite you, and us a macro to cycle throw group members. However I don't know what the command is to select people in your group, so I guess I'm not really much help anyways.

There used to be, but the devs don't like AFK. I think, once they get around to it, leaving your character unattended for a while will be logout, regardless of keep-alive macros. What they'd probablyLIKE is a special stormtrooper squad to come and kill anybody who goes AFK...

Hmm....just because you can rob a bank doesn't mean you should.

You are correct though that it's in the game, and you can use it, I just don't like the fact that people due use it. It ruins the play experience for other people in the profession. It also teach the public that "It's ok not to tip" for a service....Free or not, that is not something we should be teaching people.

It's not the service that costs the money, its the time you as a player takes to provide that service. By setting up a macro like this just ruins it for everyone else.

Now macro's like this however are fine if you limit it to people in your guild, or what-not....but sitting in CNet just really....well I don't like it. Private afk macro = fine.....Public afk macro = very bad for everyone.

The following macro is a little outdated, but does work post-CU. I wrote it specifically because Theed was being overrun by newbies with serious wounds who couldn't ever find a healer in the off-hours, and had no resources to go elsewhere to find one. As a result, I spend a little bit of time each day registered in the medical center there, providing free AFK healing. Often I'm monitoring silently, so that I can teach the newbiest of newbies about Battle Fatigue and why it's a Bad Thing (tm).

I'm aware that others on this forum don't agree with me on this point, but I felt sorry for the newbies, rarely see a doctor anywhere near Theed ( seen a total of three in the past few weeks within 3 clicksof the starport ), and see no better solution to the problem ( quitting my job could have been an option, but I have a feeling the family might have something to say abou that ).

The following macro does not require grouping: it picks the closest target in the camera view as best I can tell ( not exactly the same as "in front of" the character, as the camera angle can be different ). It can easily be modified for buffs, but I leave that for someone else. Timing can also be tightened up, as this macro doesn't fire anywhere nearly as freqently as it could for wound healing.

macro doctor:

Please stand in front of me for wound healing. I cannot heal Active Combatants or Special Forces.;
/pause 11;
/ui action targetSelf;
/pause 2;
/ui action cycleTargetsOutwardFriendly;
/pause 2;
Now Healing Wounds, %TT.;
/healWound;
/pause 3;
/macro Doctor;

Strange, /ui action targetAtCursor works for me... instead of going AFK I run a free wound healing macroin a starport that tells them to sit in a chair in front of me.

Either that or a free buff macro... did I mention I buff and heal wounds for free... while AFK.

Flame away!

Interesting, because it does not work for me....

No point to really flame something like this....As much as I don't like it, I also see the "plus" side to doing stuff like this while AFK. There are a lot of Doctor's running around, but very few of us (from what I read) actually go out and offer this type of "service".

One thing I learned at Fan Fest was that I can't get mad at the people that do this...mainly because the Devs understand there is an issue with wound healing and the lack of it. So until there is a solution it's kinda pointless to get my boxers in a knot.

Well, since you're not getting the dreaded "free XP" I can't imagine why this is a problem.

You're providing a VERY needed service that the devs, in their fit of unthinking nerfbat madness, seem to have overlooked. Overlooking details like this is one of the things the devs are actually quite good at. Too bad it damages the game.

I toyed with the idea of letting my doc toon be a buff bot a few weeks back, since I didn't have much other use in the CU. The command only seems to work with original swg-style keyboard layout and the alt-key in locked mode.
