"Me: Could you please give Doctors a reason to actually heal wounds....XP....or maybe something like cover charge, or something..........It's just that it's completely worthless for any Doctor to go out and heal wounds, and it's really not fair to the other players in the game.

D: Ok, well the XP was pulled to prevent things like AFK "monkey work", and XP is not going to go back in for this reason alone. As far as some type of secure credits trade, like cover charge, but part of it is we expect Doctors to actually be out in the field healing a group, where you can loot stuff, share the credits and XP from that.

Me: Right but then you run into the problem where people are getting killed and there is no one to heal them. And there is no point for a Doctor to even heal someone out side of a group. Me personally I play with a very limited number of people, and I don't go out of my way to find people to heal. Sure I will help people out, but there is not benefit for me doing so.

D: Right, and I agree with what you’re saying, and I know you aren't the only one that feels this way. And it is a problem that currently we don't really have a solution to. I...We don't expect doctor's to go back to doing that, because we want them out in a group. But you’re absolutely right, that is a problem we need to solve for everyone else that play's the game. The fact people have to run around looking for a doctor is just not right. I'm just not sure as to what we are going to do to fix this problem, but we are going to do something so they aren't crippled because the want to play in space and happen to die a few times.

One thing that would ease some pain is if wound heals were more powerful....then Doctors don't waste so much time healing players with massive wounds. Doctor healing and wound healing is something we are defiantly going to look into making better.

P: One thing to remember is some Doctors like the role as Wound Healer...that's their play style...to sit in a cantina or med center and heal wounds

D: Yes and we don't want to take that away from doctor's and ideally what I would like to see is some type of secure trade system that will allow you to heal something for a set fee...something like cover charge, but something like that is very tricky, and I know we have it for Entertainers and ID's but it's very tasking.

P: How about increasing Med center’s "auto healing" ability?

D: Yes currently it's set at "miserable"

**Laughing**

D: That is not something that we expect players to do..."Oh yeah just go to the hospital and sit for 6 hours straight to heal those 300-500 wounds". And we don't want that. I mean we defiantly need to figure something out and I just don't know what it would be....maybe offline healing, or npcs or I really have no idea how we are going to solve this issue....but we really do need to address this issue so that the Doctors can continue to go out and continue to have fun, but also make it so that the players unable to find doctors are not crippled because of that."

Now, I completely understand that they (the devs) do not wish for the doc profession to become an afk affair like dancers and musicians. Really, I do. However, I honestly and deeply resent the attitude that I percieve from their answers in this segment of their FanFest Forum, that they KNOW what they have done to the doctor profession and do not feel much of a sense of urgency towards making the profession fun and rewarding to play again.

No, I don't want to become some empty afk buffbot. I pay to PLAY. But I also pay to HAVE A GOOD TIME. And what I'm having with the doctor side of my character is a lot of frustration and heartache. I don't WANT people's money to heal their wounds. What I WANT is a reward of an entirely DIFFERENT sort. I want progression. If I spend a half hour healing Joe Flyboy of his massive space wounds, which I often do -- without asking anything from him in return, I might add -- I'd like a little xp out of the deal. 90% of what I do as a doctor gives me no xp at all.

Let's say that again. 90% OF WHAT I DO AS A DOCTOR GIVES NO XP. Now let's look at the justification given by the devs speaking in this little snippet of the FanFest Forum. "We want you to go out in teams." Now, pardon me if I'm wrong, but why exactly do I need to be FURTHER pushed into team play than I have already been? Now let's go over some more of our happy-fun-dev's answer. "We want you to get hate for healing." Well, pardon me, Mr Dev, but did it ever occur to you that a team's response to the healer hate is often going to be "wait to do most of your healing until we kill this, then heal away"? Now I'm not sure if you realized this, but healing BETWEEN fights gives a doctor no XP. Most teams' solution is for the doc to do less healing and more shooting, effectively cutting the doctor off from the ONLY generator of xp for his profession.

Telling your team to settle down some so you can heal without becoming a red smear on the ground doesn't settle down the team. What it does is to make it very difficult fora doc to get a team as a doc. You end up being picked for your weapon skills and then used on the side as a doctor when no xp gain can be made. Now I don't mean to be overly negative, but from my perspective, there's a VERY serious problem with this solution to doc-bots. And the talk of NPC healers to solve the problems of the non-doctor players wounds is even MORE alarming.

If you want to curb the afk doctor-bot problem, do something that effects their ability to recursively macro those particular commands, don't hamstring the profession so that it's less enjoyable to play ATK. I think that goes just as much for the entertainers as it does for we doctors. The solution is NEVER to make ATK play more frustrating and difficult AND less enjoyable and rewarding.

PLEASE carefully consider what you've done and what you CAN do to repair this hasty and poorly thought out nerfage. Your responses themselves indicate that you KNOW something's terribly wrong with the profession at this time, as you've acknowledged that there's a serious problem with people being unable to FIND doctors to heal their wounds anymore. You might honestly want to acknowledge that the reason for this problem is that you have removed EVERY incentive a player might have outside of complete kindheartedness (to the point where WE have become living NPCS if we wish to help people out) to lift a finger to heal the more than only slightly wounded.

If you DO reintroduce even a little xp incentive to do that most vital 90% of the doctor's profession, you might just see a whole lot more happy doctors out there and even more happy, woundless non-doctors with a lot less to complain about.

I agree wholeheartedly, and even started a thread in the General Game Discussion to try to bring this issue to their attention shortly after the CU went live, which received quite a few replies in support from everyone, not just docs. These comments at the FanFest were the first on the subject by the Devs, though. You can imagine how disappointed I am.

I even said that I'd likely get master doc before they really addressed the issue, too. Just got it last night.

I'd love for a Dev to actually try playing this profession and see what we have to deal with for themselves. Not just log in for 5 mins so they can say it's working as intended, but actually play the profession. Hunt in a group. Try to work up their skills some. Heal peoples' wounds. Then maybe they'd see that many of the problems they're worried about have already been fixed.

Owww my eyes are bleeding from reading Red/Black to NEONGREEN/Black Seriously, change the Green portion to ORANGE= ff9900 (LIKETHIS)

I read the majority of the first part and yes.. I agree, I went to theed hospital (my) day 2 after CU which was 3 weeks since it released.. and I saw 2 people sitting on beds waiting for wound treatment, they begged me to heal them.. I could not.. I wasn't novice doc yet. I said I'll try keeping an eye out for one, and left.

Either you need TKM 4/x/x/x or Novice Doc now apparently to get any wound treatment when you're a "loner" type that doesn't sit well with being in a guild.

Oh and, I think the Mdoc Nutrient buff is a joke!

You are too stuck on pre CU. I get ~4000 to ~6000 xps everytime I heal someone who is in combat, and that is just 1 heal. I get people always asking me to heal their wounds when I am in a starport or in a cantina, or just hanging around the Mining Outpost on Dant. I don't ask for money/credits but have been tipped many times just healing wounds, up to 100K in 1 hour. The only downside is I can't heal the villagers to open up Force Sensitive boxes on my own. I need a BE.

CU is here, learn to play it.

I did; that's why my account is closing tomorrow. I gave the devs 2 solid months to make this change worthwhile, and this how much a clue they have about playing this game.
