Thread: Doctor and pistols or rifles?
I'd go pistols. A PvP doc's first priority in combat is to stay on his feet and keep his team alive. If you go rifle you have essentially 0 kd / dizzy defense. So as soon as a bh-carb shoots you or TKA hits you with KD2 you're on you're ass for a good long time. Pistols you'll get +50 kd and +40 dizzy defense and good dodge modifier and melee defense. But you can take thatikillo for KD defense, too, really it's personal preference but it's my idea to match doctor with something more defensive than offensive.

Hey guys im working towards master doctor and i was wondering, which works better with doctor pistoleer or doctor. Please respond if u have been both or u know someone whos been one and u the other (example u were doctor/rifle and him doctor/pistols and give his opinon) I was wondering which would contribute to my main "PVP" group i like to battle with. We are working towards mastering the folowing professions. Here is the group.
1: Master Bounty hunter with few pistoleer skills
2:Master Pikeman/Master fencer
3:Master Swordsman/RIfleman
4: (me) Master doctor and either master rifleman or pistoleer.
Swordsman and Rifleman both have mind bleeds and VERY powerful mind pool attacks. The mind pool is the weakest link in any PvP situation simply because they cannot be stimmed (well they can, but only with looted stims which are pretty weak).
As a combat medic, you not only have the ability to poison/disease the opponents' mind pools, thus TREMENDOUSLY reinforcing the damage that the swordsmen and riflemen do, but you also have the ability to heal the mind pools of your people.
As a doctor, you have the ability to heal poisons and diseases which an opposing CM might be using against your people (and you). You can also heal states, and dizzy state stims have a 15m range (by default, you can experiment it a bit higher I think), so if one of your guys does go down to a dizzy/kd, you have a pretty good shot at getting them back up again.
Needless to say, CM area stims are also really handy in a toss-up.

combat revamp?
Yes there is to be a combat re-balance for publish 10. Supposedly to fix broken skills, change how things work for classes and mix it up a bit. Right now pistoleer is pretty screwed. We can pretty much spam fan shot and our other specials aren't that special. I learned all this after I was half way thru CH and Pistoleer. CH is abso-friggin-lutely hopeless and though I tried and tried to stick with it there is nothing in CH that is tolerable. So I dropped that and went with Doctor, which I really enjoy. But I do mis taming.
Now I too am struggling with what to do with my second master proff. Should I stick with Pistoleer, which I am halfway thru skill trees, and HOPE upon hope that the combat re-balance give me some testosterone?Or give up and start over as a rifleman working a long and tedious grind only to find out that the combat rebalance would have been better to stick with Pistoleer?
The answer is the same on the devs keep giving out to everyone. Wait for the combat rebalance. SO I am leaning to sticking with Pistoleer. At the very least I will have earned a badge for mastering it and then just start my grind over as a rifleman if need be. At the best they will fix a lot of problems with Pistoleer and I will be in a Master Proff that I enjoy. Time will tell.

Doctor and CM?
What happens when all your team dies in a freak accident? then your pretty much screwed. I guess you just have to be really, really good at keeping everyone alive, and it seems as if you could do that as CM/Doc, but its gonna suck when for some reason all your group acts like idiots, gets out of range for your stims, and your stuck with a TEF versus a lot of opposing faction members.
Just a funny thought...

If all your team dies in a freak accident you're pretty much screwed no matter what your profession is.
If your group just runs around like idiots and leaves you standing there all alone surrounded by the enemy, then you need to find a new group.

I've been CM/DOC forever, and I'm not that bad when it's one on one (rifleman kick my ass, they get my mind) but I'm on top of all meele professions. And honestly, DOC/CM is depending on who is playing, I saw some suck at it and then there are some that can turn a battle around with good tactics and healing/attacking macros.

If you are fighting strictly PvP you need to go CM. However be prepared to be pretty bored in PvE. Yes you can still hit stuff and its fun blah blah but you are going to be outdamaged and at close quarters you will be a liability. However it does keep you focused on healing your team. I'm a rifleman personally and wouldn't change it. It allows me to hunt alone and provide necessary fire support for my team but its really what you are going to have fun doing thats important.
