Thread: Buff Dispensing Surgical Droids

There are two key issues with any buffing droid idea.

1. From a role playing stand point the idea is that a Doc is the one doing the buffing, not a droid. The droid simply assists. It is like asking nurse to do the surgery so the doc can go play golf.

2. From a game play standpoint the idea of having the doc administer the buff is to force interaction between players. What your asking for is like asking for a droid that could make armor, weapons, or some other item for you. This game is based on interdependence. Will you also ask for a droid that can dance so that you can get mind buffs?

No on mind buffs. Mind buffs are not as easily attainable as doctor buffs, and doctor buffs have become a "must have" in order to do any leveling. It just is not really fair that Jedi are forced into hiding, yet we cannot fend for ourselves unless we pay for a second account and have a second computer (2 instances is bad on system resources) to run a doc alt

I, stupidly, thought that i could manage 3 of these posts in different forums (Jedi, DE, Doctor).

It seems the same issues are always comming up and i find myself repeating myself

Issues like player interaction and stuff have been brought up in the jedi thread, with lots of constructive feedback.

i am not sure where i am going with this, but if we think of the right solution, it just may happen some day.

So, if you have any feedback you want to give, please visit this thread.

Before you flame the idea, please read it. It is explained in all aspects on how nobody will be at a loss, not even doctors. I feel the idea is very nice, and very do-able. I originally posted it on the jedi forums because the idea pertains to my jedi character, want to see what the DE community thinks.

It has been mentioned in apost earlier, and i found the idea to be quite nice, and fair for everyone.

As of now, we have bots that can dispense stims to heal us in battle. We have things such as Surgical Droids. Why can a surgical droid not perform actual doctor duties? A bot that can buff a player would be beneficial to ALL.

This should only be a mod installable on surgical droids, and should have a maximum storage of say, just a small nice number, 5 buff packs of each stat, maybe installable as crates of 5, 6 slots, one for each stat.

The user can then pull out the droid, and like a normal doctor, apply buffs to themselves ONLY.

* These should ONLY be installable by a Doctor. This would make it so the doctor profession does not suffer. They can still charge 12k or whatever for a full buff, so 60k for the droid filled with 5 full buffs. This can be done still in Coronet or wherever.

Droid Engineer would have a new market to pursue. And nobody is hindered.

Everyone can use these droids.

* Doctors no longer have to sit and wait all day making meager amounts of cash. They can sell buffs 5 times faster than normal. The buff lines will diminish, and they can still buff people as normal, for people that cannot afford to buy or fill a buff bot.

MOST of all, my main character will not have to be a jedi buffing doctor. The LD jedi buffing is a bit ridiculus, i feel, and sometimes it takes two tries to complete the buff. This leaves more buff sales for the people who actually want to be fulltime Doctors, and more buff sales for the full time Crafting Doctors.

My main character would be able to take the droid, go to coronet for a filler-uper, come back and transfer the droid to my jedi. My Jedi can now grind safely for 5 buff periods without having to go to Coronet fora BH spanking.

I can see no reason to not have this happen. Any thoughts? did i miss something?

One of the balance part of Doc buff is that you have to find a doctor to get the buff.

If such thing was doable, I would think it's ok if the buff is far worst than an actual doctor buff.

Anyway, buff will probably change in the combat revamp (I hope), and DEV won't add new modules before quite some times. We'll force them to fix the current one before that

I hate to just sound purely negative, but it won't work... you'll notice they only gave us stimpack A's with the healing droid. Why? because anything more and we would be giving everyone skills that medics pay good skillpoints for (I'm still amazed they gave us something to use even stim A's). Allowing for some kind of buff droid would give people skills that doctors have to pay lots of skill points for. I know a good number of people who are doctor for only one reason... buffs. This would basically be telling them to go to hell, we don't need them anymore. Even keeping them in the loop by making them load the droid... either you can only load one or two charges at a time (in which case you might as well just get the doctor to buff you, it would be about as fast), or they hold a reasonable amount and no one has to go to the doctor for a week or two.

They made is so you have to have the medic skills to load the droids, but anyone in the group or battle can call upon the droid to heal them, therefore they have essentially given everyone medic skills.

all very valid points

i did my best to think f how everyone would benefit. Actual doctors would be able to sell A LOT more buffs, so potentially there would be a lot more doctors with the new economy boom. 5 buffs des not last long, mine would be gone in two days.

The big picture is that Jedi have no way of getting buffed without being put at risk.

I can go LD and buff my jedi, but when i log her back in, i cant see the buff duration, so i have no idea when my buffs will wear offf unless i use a stopwatch.

I dont dare take her into coronet, last time i did i was clone camped and killed 6 times
