Thread: Buff Bots and my current problem

I have a working buff bot, but im affraid its a day late and dollar short. I set it up to help my guild mates work out of our city while im not currently at my keyboard.

However,

With this "new?" thing of if there is no valid target it reverts to me as the target to heal.

Now the problem used to be that you would waste a buff....which i can live with that...but unless your buff is greater than the buffs your giving your customers...say you buff with your droid out and then store it to run the macro you will not buff yourself.

This leaves you about a 3.5 hour time line depending on your buffs before you start buffing yourself over and over again.

Has anyone come up with a way around this?

I came up with something "not tested" see what you guys think, but im hoping there is a better solution.

I have my buff macro that calls my advertising macro...then i set up a 3rd macro that runs in the back ground...here is my third macro that "if it works" would dump my buff bot macro click a toolbar that contains bivoli wait for 14 minutes restart itself and then restart the buff macro that way i have a higher power buff than the one im giving.

well here is the "rough" macro...im hopeing we can put our heads together and find a better solution?

I click this macro which "loops" just after my first buff frmo my buff bot macro..its timed for about the lenght or just a little after, then dumps the buff bot macro then eats a bivoli ..then waits 14min lol for bivoli to fade then restarts itself and the buff bot
/pause 13200;
/dump;
/ui action toolbarSlot07;
/pause 10;
/ui action toolbarSlot11;
/pause 90;
/Sorry I am Temporarily Closed, I am temporarily closed for 15 minutes...I will open up again shortly DO NOT INVITE ME;
/disband;
/pause 90;
/Sorry I am Temporarily Closed, I am temporarily closed for 15 minutes...I will open up again shortly DO NOT INVITE ME;
/disband;
/pause 120;
/dump;
/pause 600;
/say OK im almost ready to start again!;
/ui action toolbarSlot10;
/ui action toolbarSlot11;
/

Please tell me there is a better solution.

Only buffing every 15 mins is such a waste of your bivoli etc, for one I would not even bother eating bivoli for a bot. Since you are doing this afk I am sure your guildies are not going to using the bot continuously which means a huge waste for you, or you can eat your bivoli if you insist but have the buff running throughout your enhanced buff time.

For your other question I am not too clear, I know its possible to do a continous macro to buff. Someone else will have to advise on how to do it but basically you accept group etc at the start of the buff then disband after, if you dont have anyone invite you then you target your driod so the bot will start buffing the driod if no one is present, of course you cant buff driods so you dont waste your buff packs, Again I have no idea how but I am sure someone will be able to tell you....unless this is the "new" thing you are talking about stoping you from using this tactic.

EDIT-oohooh I had a revelation, maybe if during your pause while waiting for a group inv, say 30 secs for the other person to inv you then you invite your driod into a group. If someone has already grouped you up for buffs obviously the invitation will go to your driod but nothing will happen as your not group leader and if you are not in a group you will group up your driod and try to buff him. Pretty sure thats how they do it,

Yes...when i try to do the buff bot the idea is that im in my own hospital with my be hat on, without droid.

I "only" use the bivoli to buff me to a higher level...than i will buff my customers to....then when the bivoli runs out the buff macro will restart until my buff fades then the macro's will repeat.

The main problem im having is that i have to have a higher buff on myself than i give my customers or about every 5 minutes i re-apply the buff to myself..no matter what i target if its not a buffable target it re-applies the buff to myself....so if i went afk i would use all my packs on me within an hour if i had no customers during that time.

cause with some of the changes any thing you try to heal that is not a valid target reverts to yourself...and if my buffs are the same power and not greater it re-applies.

thats where im haveing the problem and only way i can see is to macro a food that buffs me higher ..let it wear off then continue to buff so i can't over buff myself.......sorry its hard to explain exactly what i mean..but if others are starting to see it...i hope we can come up with a better solution than the macro i made

ty for the input.

For My buff bot i use "/target cantina"

Im only 100m from the cantina so the bot targets the cantina says invalid target and doesnt buff anything/anyone

That way it doesnt waste buffs on myself

I used to use "/target m" but if my one friend got too close it would try to grab him since his name started with m.

My bot has been running for 2 months without any Issues.

Hope thats what you were looking for

Well you could do this

/target table;

place it at the end of your macro so that after you do the

/target group member

you will be buffing the table which will just give you an error msg

and when your macro recycles since you are no longer in a group you will not changew your target

If it's in your city, try and be semi-near a trainer of some kind and do...

/target m

to Target the Merchant trainer or something similar

What I did was get a non CH pet and put him ina different room, make sure you tell him to stay or he will follow you. After the /join command, add a group command for the pet. If no one else is in the group you will target the pet. Since he is in a different room it will say he is out of range. Hope that helps.

Targeting an invalid target should still work. It seems the change only takes effect during combat. I just tried to buff a chair and got the invalid target message.
