Thread: Determining Good Resources

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what should be considered a "good" resource for crafting Enhance Meds. I know that OQ generally accounts for 66% and PE for 33%. I'm wondering, what "number" should I be aiming for when doing the math on resources? I am guessing 900 is the target, but figured I'd ask, as I haven't seen resources in a VERY long time that would produce that value.

I realize that the power of the ABCEs, etc are important, but I'm assuming they would have the same "magic number" to aim for.

Thanks for your time!

The formulas are normally OQ 66 PE 33 and OQ 66 UT 33, but can be different for individual resources. The reason is the way missing stats are handled. For example only the organic part has PE, so the inorganic part kind of inherits this PE. And an extreme case is the UT on non-action buffs. Since none of them has UT, there's nothing to even inherit. So the UT ends being counted as 0.

This makes these formulas for evaluating the resources by themselves:
Lokian Wild Wheat: Power PE+OQ, Charges OQ
Tatooinian Fiber: Power OQ, Charges OQ+UT
Dolovite Iron: Power OQ
Domesticated Oats: Power PE+OQ
Herbivore Meat: Power PE+OQ*2
Class 4 Liquid Petro: PE+OQ*2
Avian Meat: Power & Med Use PE+OQ, Charges OQ, Duration DR*3+OQ*2
Reactive Gas: Power & Med Use OQ, Charges OQ, Duration DR*3+OQ*2
Organic (Action): Power & Med Use PE+OQ, Charges OQ, Duration DR*3+OQ*2
Inorganic (Action): Power & Med Use OQ, Charges OQ+UT, Duration DR*3+OQ*2

Both Wild Wheat and Herbivore Meat has a cap of 700 on PE. And most Reactive Gas types have a cap on DR. Only Tolium and Unknown can go above 900 DR.

Most people concentrate on charges on the ABEC, but sometimes you just want power. Then another set of Fiber and Wheat may be better. So the best advice is to collect the best you can find for both formulas.

Waiting for over 900/600 spawns in all the important stats will take forever. Don't count on that and just grab anything which is better than what you have. The crucial part is getting good stats on the Avian and Reactive. The others do fine on 800/500 which is a more obtainable goal.

Just for fun here's an estimate on how long you have to wait on average to get all the stats above 900/600:
Wheat: 2 Years 8 Months for Power (Hasn't happened on Tempest yet). Only 5 Months for Charges.
Fiber: 2 Years 4 Months for Charges (This one hasn't spawned either). Only 3 Months for Power.
Dolovite: 2 Months
Oats:3 Months
Herbivore: 4 Months
Class 4: 8-9 Years (No spawn here either on Tempest, but hardly a surprise)
Avian: 3 Years 4 Months for DR, PE and OQ. Only 4 Months for only PE and OQ.
Reactive: 4-5 Years for DR and OQ. Only 2 Months for OQ.

This is just averages. Even though a Wheat with OQ above 900 has an average of 5 months, Tempest got the very first one justa fewweeks ago. And we got an Avian with all 3 stats above 950 which is something like once every 26 years... The waiting time is reduced drastically if you aim for 800/500. Class 4 with both above 800 is then down to 'only' 2 years.

As you can see it will take a few months to gather good resources. And you have to pray for a good Class 4.

900+ OQ and 800+ PE is considered "Uber

900+ OQ and 600+ PE is what I consider good

Thanks very much, Lunariel! Great information!

It seems that most of the resources for docs on Radiant are pretty depressed right now, and have been for a couple of months. Rarely have I seen anything over 600 on any stat for a "named" resource (Lokian Wheat, Talusian Water, etc.). Herbivore meat has been pretty bad for a while, too. Avian meat...well, let's not go there....I suppose we all have our problems.

So, what I'm understanding, though, is 800/500 should be good enough for reasonable enhance packs, until sommething better comes along. I can live with that.

What kind of charges are going to be required for those 920+ buff packs, generally?

It depends on what you want from your buff packs. If you are making them for yourself you may want to maximize power on the ABEC to squeeze out a little extra at the cost of charges. If you want to sell them them, then it's normally better to maximize charges instead.

And then it's the power values. For example 910 is the breakpoint for 2500 with +25 Bivoli and 928 is the breakpoint for 2550. These are important for selling buffs. And 920 as you mentioned is a nice looking number for selling the packs. So sometimes you may want to sacrifice charges on the ABEC to reach these psychological values.

The psychological value for charges is 30, but that can be hard to reach. You need excellent resources on the ABEC or more than 10 points. High 20s is pretty good too.

And if you have a spare point left on the final buff, then you have the choice of getting med use down to 90 or getting another charge or two. If you want to make buffs for non-masters as well, then that's an option too.

There's no obvious rule for this. Just try out a few combinations and go for the one you like the most.
