Thread: HOW TO GET MED XP!
Message Edited by MendoCino on 05-01-2005 08:18 AM
Thank you for that information, I appreciate it. It seems to me that if you want to heal in the new CU, then you may as wll create a MD/CM character that is strong in healing and has a sprinkle of some other weapon just as a minimal means of defense.
Do you have any information on why we don't get xp for healing in medbays and in town? Is the only opportunity to get med xp healing in combat against mobs of equal or greater cons? Is the new play, go into town to heal for tips and then group up and go out on a hunt/mission for xp?

I didn't like CM / Doc....I will stick to Doc / Pike....far better combo IMO.
As for your XP question. Healers are now being treated as a Combat Class....and that is the reason we don't get XP unless we are in combat. So yes you need to heal people in a group attacking equal or better mobs to get max XP that is worth anything.
I healed a few people lastnight and didn't get tipped any, but I don't much care. Could probably get away with charging people, but /shrug.
It's a huge difference from how the old game was, and I won't lie there is a lot that I don't like. I've been playing with the same key setup for 2 years, and now I have so many abilities I have to use more then one pane for hot keys.....Overall the game is fun for me.....but at the same time I'm really mixed, and I understand it needs a lot of work to be better.

To add to this
XP is based on your player level vs the mob lvl. For every level the mob is under you, you lose 10% xp.
The "fastest" way to get XP is in a group. Get missions, and don't attack, just heal.
If the mob isn't white, yellow, or red don't waste your time with it, beause the XP is going to suck.
WhiteCons = fairly easy for your group member to take on alone if you heal.
Red Cons = You need 2-3 people attacking this guy
Purple Cons = You need 4-8 people attacking this guy.
The players must be in combat to get XP. If you attack your XP is cut in half and will continue to go towards combat the more you attack.
One thing to be aware of though is Mobs now attack the person dealing OR healing the most damage!!! Therefore, if your friend attacks for 200 and you are healing for 400 be prepared to get agroed until your friend out damages your heals.
That's why your friend should be using /taunt to re-acquire aggro.

just to add one thing, you now also receive xp for healing yourself whilst in combat.

Yes this is a great change. I am MBH and working on the master box for MD. I have been getting most of my xp working as a meat shield, I'll pull all the agro to myself and then just have to focus on keeping me healed instead of worrying about everyone else. Running CL 76 voritor missions on dantooine with a group of 5 (CL 76, 73, 72, 54, 50), the combatants were getting about 3-5k xp per kill and I was pulling 5.3k healing almost every kill.
If your looking for a fun place to level I would say get a group of 4-8 people and go to the DWB, it was made alot easier and the xp just rolls in. (this is not just for max combatants, we had a few people with us who were only CL 54, you will need at least one CL 80 to bump the group cl to 80)
