Thread: Components (5 vs 10)?
I'm starting to tinker around with making stims in large quantities now, and I'm curious to find out a few things about the subcomponents. First off--how much better of a stim can I expect to make with 10 points (i.e. Doctor + Crafting 4) vs 4 points (Master Medic)? Suppose I'm making Stim D's. Using average quality materials I made a set of 31/410 D's, with 5 experiment points, using nothing Advanced.
I'd like to find out what I could expect if I was to climb the Doctor Medicine Crafting tree to 4. Also, how high up knowledge would I need to go to use a Stim E that isn't experimented down for ease of use?
The main reason I'm curious about this is I'm looking to do a CH template like this:
Marksman (0303), Scout (4042), Creature Handler (Master)
Then augument that with either:
Medic (Master), Doctor (0024) <-- 2 knowledge, 4 crafting)
or
Medic (4004), Bio-Engineer (Master)
But I'm interested in finding out just how much better a 10 point component is vs a 5 point component.
Thanks in advance!
The answer is you'd see a noticable difference with those extra experimentation points, such that you probably don't need stim E's because the D's from a master doc will be just fine. Frankly for many situations you'd probably do just fine with an advanced stim B that's fully experimented.
That said, my advice to you would be to buy your meds from a master doc and focus on either increasing your healing/buffing ability or on some other class. If you're a scout you can probably get your meds for a good rate if you offer to harvest meats in return.
One other possibility is to find all your own resources and pay a doctor a reasonably small fee to make you a few schematics that you can run in your own factories.
Heal a rancor from nearly dead to full. Then discuss not needing Stim E's. ![]()
For healing people, a Stim B is fine. It's healing my pet that I need hordes of healing power for. I'm a creature handler, I don't want to buff people--I don't really want to heal anyone (except myself). In order to make a Pet Stim (or Ranged Stim too) I still need subcomponents from Medic. If I make that component with 5 points instead of 10, how much of a difference will it make? I'll have 10 points for the Pet Stim, just not the components.
