Thread: What are the benefits of enhancements?
Basically what I want to know is what enhancements are really needed. The manul has a fairly short and omewhat vague description of what the stats do. Health and Action are pretty obvious, you use them for actions and if you run out you get incapacitated. What about the other stats, Strength is supposed to reduce the Health cost per action and Constitution is supposed to set how fast Health regenerates. Likewise for Action; Quickness for Action cost and Stamina for Action regeneration.
I've spent some time with entertainers and enhancing their Quickness and Stamina seemed to do very little to their Action costs and the regeneration seemed equally unaffected. There was a slight increase, but not enough to be incredibly useful. Just to mention it I currently can only make A and B level enhancements and typically boos the stat for around 200.
In the field helping the players regenerate Health/Action isn't very useful since a stim pack does that way faster than any stat can hope too. And with the poor effect of the Strength/Quickness enhancements I've been debating not carrying those 4 enhancement types. Will they be more useful with the stronger versions or should I save teh resources and inventory space?
The more powerful versions are much more potent. I ran into a dancer in a cantina last night that was constantly running out of action points as she danced. I hit her with a Enhance Stamina D pack and her action began to regenerate faster than she could use it up.
Obviously, the health and action packs help boost your pools so that you can take more damage and do more specials. The secondaries really help when it comes to performing special actions. With my quickness and stamina boosted, I can perform all my carbineer specials and not even notice a drop in my action bar.
But, like anything else, the more potent teh pack, the more drastic the results. Enhancement packs get considerably better as you're able to make more potent ones and the bonuses to healing wounds seem to impact the quality of the buff so a more powerful doc will be able to apply a more powerful buff.
I hope that helps.
Well,
The secondary substats only make a difference, it seems, when you get to Master Doc and are using Enhance Pak D's. As you point out, +200 quick/stamina doesn't make much difference for an entertainer. But whoa boy, 1200 or more sure does. I've buffed entertainers before, and it reduces the action costs, and increases regen so much, that their action bars pretty much stay constantly full, *even* Master Musicians and Dancers who are using the high-level 'special effects' that normally eat action. It's a beautiful thing, hehe.
Thanks again for the info.
