Thread: Selling enhance packs... Why bother?

I recently opened a medical supply vendor, and as I had about 100 enhance packs left I put them on sale as well. They got sold in about 24 hours at 12k each, and a couple buyers came back to me asking for more... as they had already used them up selling buffs at 1k a charge.

To the other medical supplies vendors - do you even bother with enhance packs? Even if I sold them at 15k a pack people would still clear everything in no time because they can just go ahead and make 10k off them... Why wouldn't I just go ahead and sell my buffs as well instead?

I wanted to help the doctors who don't have the opportunity or the time of looking for resources all the time to make good enhances (mine are mostly 25/830+, which is pretty good for sunrunner), and I feel that I wasted time instead letting other docs make money off my time.

Have you already seen this happen and what is your general opinion about the problem?

Well, you are getting the creds you want for them, right? Beyond that, what the buyer uses it for shouldn't be of any concern, save for maybe an idea to make creds faster than selling them. Alot of people don't have the patience to sit down in the middle of astarport and /shout that they are buffing, while all you have to do is make them and put them on the vendor [obviously this takes time and care too, but it's not quite a tedious as buffing in a starport, at least not for me anyways].

On another note, if they are selling out really quickly, it's a tell-tale sign that your prices are too low and pushing them up a bit at a time will help you find a happy medium where your packs sell at the highest price you can get them and keep a decent flow of sales.

If you have to shout that you're buffing while you have a Master Doctor title on and your character is searchable then you're in the wrong place. I can usually make around 120k in about 1-2 hours depending on traffic through some areas and I never shout spam anything. All I have to do is show up.

So is it worth it to sell the packs? Yes, if you're putting a lot of them on the vendor at a price which doctors can make a profit off of buffing other PC's. Is it better to use those packs yourself selling buffs? Well odds are you'll never get the same price forselling the packs as you will buffing people with them unless those doctors like to lose credits.By selling the packsyou become the middle-man and your prices can never exceed what a doctor can get out of using them. So really it all depends on what you'd rather be doing with your time on-line. Harvest, craft a ton and sellen massor harvest, craft on demand or buy pre-madeand buff.

But that's only to make money. I much more prefer getting myself into interesting situations wheregroups of peopledepending on my timely heals and late revives.

I've only been buffing for about 3 days. Already I have several steady customers where all they have to do is see me walking by and they will ask for a buff. Other times I don't have to have my title up and have some people see me in the med center and they will ask if I can buff. And if I put up my master doc title then I'm sure to be busy for the next hour or until I run out of enhance packs. I just need to be able to create my own packs and I will be happy. I can make them, but not as good as the ones I can buy. But I'll keep trying.

Personally, I spend weeks on end trying to find the top-end resources to make my components and packs. There's no price that will buy anything but a buff set from me, because I invest too much time to see someone grind Master Doctor in a week and buy enhance packs just to make 500k in a day.

Then again, I'm a Doctor by choice, not by holo.

I am still a novice (doc 4 - 4 - 4 - 2), but I sell the ocassional enhance pack when it's not up to my own usage standards, or when I level up to making a higher one. I don't have a vendor, so I just put them up on the bazaar. :~) Whatpeople do with them afterward is their choice, since I'm the one who sold it.

I look at it like this:

Will you make more at the end of the day trying to buff with your packs or if you buff AND sell your packs on the vendor.

If you have 4-5 steady customers, that is 4-5 times the number of people that get buffed that you yourself would of never gotten to.

While yes, they are making money off your meds, that is ecomony. Do not look at it as a slight against you or a waste of your time. I would assume at 12k per, you are truly making SOME money off that. I would look at it as gravy. You make a batch of packs, you use some and make the big dollar, and your vendor sits back with no additional effort at all and popps you 12k per all day long. You should be rich soon, if not already..

I would rather make a little off alot, then make a lot off a little. in otherwords, customers for your buffs may come or go depending on time of day, etc. But you get a few docs who think your packs are good, and afford them a decent profit, and you will sell ALL THE time...

Just my analysis from my old college days...

Oh, and I would HATE for the Docs on my servers to stop selling them.... I am not a petient man. And the grind through Doc Crafting was torturous and brutal on me....it is just not my cup of tea...and yes, I am a Doc Holo Whore.....But now that I am closer to master, I believe I will keep it....it si fun to help people...

I personally appreciate Medics/Doctors, that make and sell meds. I prefer to buy my meds then to constantly hunt for the best resources, and when I hit Master Doc, i will not have any skill points to spare on Scout or Artisan to gather my own

I think we need both types of Docs:

* Doctors that act as Chemists

* Doctors that act as Practicioners

I am a master doctor and I prefer to buy my enhancements. However, I do not use them for buffing others and making money. I use them for myself and my friends. So, I very much appreciate other master doctors that take the time to vend them to others. Thank you!

If you are selling what you make, why complain? Sounds to me like you have a good business going for you.

I only sell enhancements on my vendor when a person doesn't end up buying all that they ordered (annoying) I sell them for 14k a piece. I rarely even sell them by special order so seeing them on my vendor is not a normal thing. I prefer to only make them for my own use.

Why bother? Because there are limitations on how much revenue one person can pull in buffing and by selling buff packs to many doctors you can take a percentage of their buffing revenues.

For example: imagine you sold 10 complete sets of enhance packs with 30 charges to 10 doctors who charged 6k credits for their buffs. These doctors generated 10 docs x 10 sets x 30 charges x 6k = 18 million credits. You priced your enhance packs at 15k ea or 90k for a complete set, meaning you got 10 docs x 10 sets x 90k = 9 million credits, or 50% of the revenues generated.

So now tell me how long it would take you to get 9 million credits buffing by yourself, and how long it would take you selling enhance packs, and there's your answer.

I say don't worry about it as long as you're making the money you want/need to make.

Also look at this way.. Time on investment.

Some guess work here so if these aren't sound numbers oh well.. lol.. but you'll get the idea..

Let say..4 hours a week is what you spend to make a 6 crates of enhance Ds. I'll use this model assuming you buy all your resources.. After you make these load them on the vendor. let's say 15K each.. 4.5 million selling all 300 enhancements kits.. Time invested 4 hours..

Buffer:
Goes to Coronet starport goes into tell hell.. spends the next two hour buffing.. assuming non-stop buffing, at 15sec delay.. 1.5 minutes per person.. to make math easy.. let's say 2 minutes to include the how much and tipping.. 60 buffs in two hours.. at 6k a buff.. 360k made in two hours.. make that 4 hours, and 520k..

Time on investment pays off for you.. more time to play, and more money in the bank.. If you're worried about money that is.

Let's expand that a little.. say 8 hours for resources gather and such to make your crates.. still 4.5 million and the buff would be at 1.4 million over 8 hours of work..

So it's whatever works for you.. Yes your buffs, if you buffed using your buffs would bring you in let's say 20 charges an enhancement pack.. 6000 charges total..(50*20*6) 6000*$1000 = 6million..

So over all "loss" for you is 1.5 million.. not to mention the additional time required to buff..

I'd say you've got a good thing going.

hmm guess I should see about selling all those extra ones I've got now...
