Thread: Civic Duty

I consider it my civic duty as a Master Doc to buff people in the cities I travel through. (Who want to pay the 10k and ask me nicely). It is a RARE case that I take off my Master Doc title to go through Coronet on my way to Dathomir or something. I have to be in a big hurry.

If every doc would do this, I would only have 3 or 6 patients waiting for buffs instead of 9 or 15 everytime I pass through Coronet or Theed. It takes the time of one extra shuttle to provide buffs for the people waiting for them most of the time.

Think about joining me in my quest to make Doc the most useful, professional, and service orientated profession out there.

I don't wear any tags, except for 15 secs after I log in (and that one is Emergency Technician).

It is my civic duty to have fun playing SWG.. as is eveyone else's.

Nobody needs buffs to play.. They want buffs to fight high end stuff.. 2 very different things.

I go around as Novice Scout (I'm master doctor) but I buff more people than anyone on my server. Here's why: I am imperial and I consider it my civic duty to buff all OVERT imperials WITHOUT CHARGE to make our defenders stronger. Every time I walk into Bestine people go overt specifically to get their buffs from me

So I have a pretty good effect on the GCW through the number of overt imperials, and on how strong the opposition to rebel attack will be. I don't mind buffing for free because I made many cratesof top-quality buff packs in September, enough to keep buffing for a year or more. I do get some nice donations however.

P.S. I mean the *only* people I buff are overt imperials. I refuse all requests from rebels, but will sometimes sell buffs to neutrals.

That's good, because from what we're hearing Bestine is about to get NPC reinforcements of some kind.

Wouldn't want you shot by the local Imperial Garrison eh?

- I used to always wear mine. Now I often find myself wearing my Novice Dancer title. Beinga Rebel, I can't exactly go around during combatative periods waving that title around, and some times I can't stop to buff people (maybe a raid, maybe a teammate is down, etc.). But when I have down time, I hang out in the medical center and help out.

Blue, that's you're playstyle and you're more then welcome to do that.

Some of us would rather not spend the time to haggle over pricing, getting put into tell-hell, and dealing with the idiots who complain because 1 buff dropped below 1K.

And some of us have even forsaken the general populace and only heal PA Mates, or have gone the RP route and only heal their own faction, or have gone into private practice to heal only a specific list of clientele.

Those are all just as valid roles for this profession as your own.

Do what you want with your toon, just as others will do as they see fit.

sure, thats your playstyle / opinion but it sure is not mine.

I RolePlay (well try to ) an elitist Imperial Officer, and the only people that gets buffs from me are the folks in guild and other OVERT Imperials.

I usually wear my master doctor all the time and yes i get alot of tells. but i don't mind selling enhances it's a good living for a casual player. yesterday i was afk more than 50% of the time washing dishes and helping my girlfriend with loundry. i came back to the keyboard and asked myself : " hmm what was i trying to do? " .

if i'm busy i'll tell them and give them a price they will not pay unless they are drowning in credits. I've recently raised prices to 10k from 6k because i was running out of health enhancess. so i wanted to slow down the rate i use them but it didn't help all that much.

if i see someone with disease i'll cure them , if i have time i'll heal people with wounds i'm in a hurry or busy somewhere you either come to me or bribe me with a whole lot of credits. I need some time to harvest resrouces and craft. and other than that have some fun messing around with my new holocron profession (artisan).

on oposite faction raids i go into free enhance mode too. but that haven't happend fora while since we had a major shift in the balance of power on my server. and now my faction from being raided regularly is raiding regularly. I don't reveal my faction on forum or in game. i keep myself reletivly neutral leaning to 1 side. having a good reputation does have its advantages .

As people stated before me bufing is in no way or shaep a civic duty. It's a luxuary that the wealth get to fight bigger fights.

Now if it ws disease or poison, I'm more tahn happy to stop and heal them, I leave the wounds to medics and novic docs who need the xp (wasted close to 1 million med xp, I wish I could sell this stuff).

But again we are playing to roleplay so you always can be a mean doctor and heal who you feel like it if thats what you want your char. to be.

But don't dare ever charge more than 6k for those buffs, that would be a mortal sin! LOL!

I recently adopted the policy of only buffing my own faction. When I don't want to be in tell hell for buffs I'll exchange my Master Doctor title for Master Combat Medic. With my doc title off, I only get tells from regular cutomers who I don't mind going out of my way to buff (mostly because they understand when I say I'm not available). I will usually heal/cure anyone who asks nicely but buffs are for my own faction (rebels) only. I have recieved only rare critisism for this. Actually I will give some credit to the Imperials on Wanderhome as the only arguments I get are from nuetrals (or at least they claim to be) and I have even been called honorable by several Imperials after I explained why I would not buff them. The most surprising outcome from this policy is that my business has picked up. I guess there are enough rebels who prefer to give their business to a faction-loyal doctor.
