I was sitting in the AH tavern the other day and I noticed a guy that was AFK saying that he will heal your wounds if you sit in the chair in front of him. I saw a few people try it and as soon as they sit down they would get healed.

My question....How in the heck did the AFK guy target the people in the chair? What made that chair so special that they had to be sitting in it for it to work?

They were possibly using a macro program outside of SWG. These generally simulate things like mouseclicks, so in this case, the location of the target would need to match the location of the mouseclick.

There are obviously in game ways to target people (otherwise buff bot macros wouldn't work), but these fon't require someone tobe in one spot.

If he was using only SWG authorized macros, he would have had to be using a /cycletargetoutward command to target the person in the chair, very clever of him, actually. Granted, if nobody was in the chair, the command would grab the person closest to him and attempt to buff anyway, but if he was careful to pick a chair in a corner, nobody would be in his field of view so it would never target anyone other that the person in the chair.

I might just have to borrow this idea! :-)

/ui action targetAtCursor

I use /ui action targetAtCursor and put my cursor on a chair so if no one is there I don't waste buffs (can't buff a chair)...if you use cycletargetoutward you end up buffing yourself if no one is around.

He was using target enemy at cursor, known command in the keymap options. This way all he has to do is create a macro that will first announce your need to sit in a specific chair, then he simply targets whatever is at the cursor and commneces to heal or enhance.
