I have been working on a new character template and trying to decide if I want to have a doctor. Do doctors that combine with a combat profession find the lack of skill points for terrain negotiation a problem?
A master rifleman, master doctor can get to scouting and Exploration I with one point left over. Does not leave much for force sensitivity skills when the patch comes out though so I am going to assume those 18 points will be moved to force sensitivity when the patch comes out given the much higher bang for your buck with the 1 point boxes.
How many doctors have any scout at all and if not do you miss it when you go out adventuring? Does it hinder your support capabilities?

For the last 3 months or so, I've been grinding my way through the combat professions, starting with the Brawler trees, and now moving into the Marksman ones, all without dropping Master Doc. It's been one hell of a juggle, gaining and dropping scouting skills as I run out of points, but I have noticed that it hasn't been too bad since we have vehicles that are constantly at our disposal. The only time I had real difficulties was when I was doing the Brawler profs, and the targets started to run away. Now that I'm working on Marksman trees, I find that it's no longer an issue. The only thing I'd miss if I put all my points into the FS skills would be harvesting meat from my kills for my meds. But, since I'm going M Doc/M Shipwright once JTL comes around, I dont think it will be an issue at all.

Well Beta here is my 2 cents on the matter. I am in the same situation that you are in with the 18 extra points once the other professions are paid for. I alternate between novice artisan and novice scout depending on the resources I need. travel biscuits in a tight situation are the best answer, sometimes you just have to have them.

Oh yes, I find lack of TN to be a problem.. running my mdoc/tkm on rancor hunts with guildmates is fun... especially when you have a bothan master ranger screaming "GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF" going up and down hills... as I try to get within /taunt range to pull the rancor off him and within range of him to heal him to keep him alive.. At least I only had to rez him once..
/sigh
Trying to train people to run TO the doc is harder than BECOMMING a doc..

Hahaha...I have to agree with you on this one... I too am master doc and master TK and I can't get anywhere fast without my bike. Then when I'm forgetful and dont re-apply my brandy or canape and my mind goes real quick as all TK's know, I can't run away fast enough from the rancors...
I also noticed on my alt as a CM i cannot get any other secondary profession because I have to fill my ranged support tree in marksman... Argh!!!They need to give us more SP maybe atleast 300....

My Doc is a weaponsmith and so with no combat abilties when I'm with a group in the field I'm the one screaming "GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!" Yes a lack of TN does hurt me. Best advice? Buy lots and lots and lots of travel biscuits.

TN isn't that much the problem for me, the problem is you can't heal someone who is moving even at 3m.

To answer the original poster and keeping on topic, I have a Master Fencer and Master Doc with 1 box in Terrain. Figthing ranged toons can be troublesome but with strong Travel Biscuits (food), I'm happy with it.
I wouldn't worry to much about it personally.

I think it's actually a good thing we don't have it. You don't want to had out Terrain Negotiation to everyone, and I find it hard to justify within the definition and concept of the doctor class why they would be better than average at moving through the wilderness. Scouts, Rangers, even Combat Medics...I can understand. Doctors? Nah.
When I was a Master Doctor/Combat Medic 4/4/4/4 it was certainly nice having it, but it makes it more valuable by having only a few professions to get it.

I used to be a Ranger, Now a Master doctor/TKM with just enough scouting to let me harvest the meat I need. I miss TN a lot. Travel biscuits and veghash are now both big parts of my daily nutritional requirements, between those two foods and the very necessary bivoli, brandy, and synthsteak, I keep the chefs in business.
Travel biscuits help quite a lot.
Oh and I agree that it's much muchharder to train people to run to the doctor when they are in trouble than it is to become a doctor. /dragincappedplayer; /healdamage;is one of my most-usedmacro hotkeys.

So if you get one of those force enhancements that gives you terrain negotiation, do you still need scout for TN to work? I guess what I'm asking is, isTN connected to the scout profession? (I've never tried Travel Biscuits, gotta check that out
)

Actually TN is not connected to the Scout prof. If you take a look in the 4th line in the CM tree you'll see what i mean
.
