Sorry if this has been answered already, I've been looking through posts for over an hour and can't seem to find any reference to it.

A nasty rumor is going around that our buffs will be limited to 1500 Tops. Is there any truth to this rumor?

Thank you in advance for your response.

The rumor you're hearing started from this post by Thunderheart.

I think this will be a GOOD thing, and I look forward to it. The lack of challenge in this game is a real bummer. So smaller hams and weaker armor will be a boon for adding tension and challenge back to the game. Hooray!

Are there any details about how buffs will be effected in the upcoming combat balance? The only details available at this point are that we are going to look at all the numbers. The types of things that will change is that multi-thousand point HAM buffs will not be available. Over time, as various combat variables have increased in scale such as armor resistances, weapon efficiencies, equipment slices, buffs have also been pushed beyond balanced limits by exceptionally smart players. As this information works its way through the community, it tilts all the numbers to an extreme imbalance. During the combat balance, we will look at these numbers and also post focus threads on any proposed changes. One thing to remember though is that the HAM revamp is going to change the dynamics of combat so it makes comparing old system and new system numbers difficult to realize in terms of raw game play.

I've always felt that any candle that burns twice as bright should burn half as long. I never understood why power and duration both increased as you progressed along the buff packs from A to D. The A series should last the longest and the D series should be relatively short duration enhances. Buffbots should love that because they'd get so much more business. But nerfing (no matter how well-deserved) is never terribly popular for the nerfees. In this case, that means EVERY combat profession that relies on buffs.

Ok thanks for the answers. A simple yes or no without the opinions would have sufficed, but I'm happy to read the opinions as well.

Somehow I think Doctors are going to get the proverbial shaft in this transaction tho. Can't exactly say why, it's more a conviction that I have based on SOE's past performance. They will forget something, and then the Doctors will have to suffer for their oversight for 2 or 3 weeks.... err... on second thought for 2 or 3 months. The cost of resources for example (someone else mentioned that).

Thanks again.

Yeah, i can already see the whining and complaining that will happen when we still charge 10k for a set of 1k buffs. (hopefully 1k, probably less)

Every profession relies on buffs because we're playing in an inbalanced combat system. Patience, young one.
