Thread: Since when does DR affect buff POWER??
While OQ and PE are the only stats required for heal value/power. (supposedly)
Yet tonight while trying to make a very low duration Action buff (due to the low DR of the avian meat I'm using) to match the other buffs, I discovered something really fishy with how DR affects the POWER of buffs.
I used a 200 DR organic with very high OQ and PE (950+ on both) and then was varying the inorganic part with various metals, gas, fiberplast and petroleums to try to tweak my end duration.
Using a 1000 OQ gas (which has NO DR) I could only get my buff up to 870 power.
Using a 950 OQ petroleum with 550 DR I got a 930 (approx.) power buff.
Now theoretically, the gas should have produced a much higher buff than the petroleum since power is not affected by DR.
I then tried various other materials and I ended up with the same thing happening. The higher the inorganics DR, even if the OQ was lower, ended up with higher lvl buff power.
Unfortunately since I need a low DR buff, using a LOW DR inorganic (and perhaps the organic's DR is also counted, but I only tried with the one type of organic), I end up with a low power buff even when the 2 stats that are SUPPOSED to affect power are over 950.
Has anyone else ever noticed this?

I'm assuming that you used the same organic in both buffs.
50 additional OQ should only make a difference of 13 power (on an enhance action D). So it wouldn't be a "much higher" buff.
I think the key is the stat you didn't mention - PE. Gas has no PE, so the organic contributes all the PE in the formula. You used petro, which does have PE. If the petro you used had PE lower than the organic, you actually brought down the PE contribution and lowered the power of your buffs. It looks like you used a high PE organic and a low PE petro.
On second viewing - I didn't read this right. The buff power went up significantly with the petro. This indicates to me that you used a low PE organic and added in a high PE petro, bringing up the total PE contribution.
