(I put this up here for a friend who asked me to, please critique and admonsh me if you're bored or have a better way of doing things)
Every Master Doc Needs:
1) Two houses placed by guild members for storage
2) Your own residence (Optional (you can have guildies place 3 houses for you), but it's nice to be a town-folk)
3) 6 factories (placed by guild members)...also used for storage if need be
4) 8 Heavy Chem Harvestors
5) 8 Heavy Floral Harvestors
6) 8 Heavy Gas Harvestors
7) 8 Heavy Mineral Harvestors
The idea is to use your lots most effectivly when a server "best resource spawn" pops up. You plop 8 harvestors down on the Lokian Wild Wheat that first day, and you are set with wheat for 6-12 months. Do the same for every resource that pops that is good. If a good (not "server best spawn" pops up[OQ and PE (DR) are over 600]), use the harvestors on them and sell that resource to the public.
Houses and Factories using up your lots will put a strain on your resource collection. Sure you can have guildies place harvestors for you, but it's a pain to have them put them up in the spot and on the planet you want them to, and take them down, and name them, and give you admin rights, etc, etc...
No this is not cheap, but you can share food factories with your guild chefs and other docs when you're not using them. Other profs need your harvestors when nothing's spawning that you need. The mantainence is not too big a problem if you are selling your buff packs for 25k each and have a good business going. Buy your energy for factories and harvestors, it's so much easier than getting your own energy.

8 harvesting lots is barely enough to keep up with 6 factories, if you intend to produce in all 6 factories. Depending on how efficient your factory production is (how well you eliminate time gaps between runs), one factory uses roughly 1 BER 13 heavy harvester of production a day. So 8 harvesters can cover 6 factories, but you should be prepared for spot shortages of resources. If you have a good guild, you can use guild-mates tohelp with temporary resource shortages or to help when 2 great spawns occur at once (so you don't have to split your 8 lots across 2 resources). I personally prefer a 2 (or more) harvesters for each factory ratio, which allows you to build up stock slowly as well as sell to the public when there isn't a great spawn.
Since 6 factories will use under 100K of resources a day, storage should match how many days of resources you intend to stockpile. If you want a 6 month supply of resources, you would need around 180 stacks of resources. This will fit in 3 lots. Consider using your bank space for meat.
One more comment - don't forget the water harvesters. I don't use mine often, but when a high quality Talusian water spawns, you want to be ready.
If I wanted to do a "solo doctor" crafting character, I would use 1 hospital (or small house), 2 factories, and 5 harvester lots. 2 factories is enough to keep a well-stocked vendor, assuming that you price appropriately (you don't want to be the low-cost supplier with a small operation).

Yup that is what I use. I have a partner in crime, Darrsk. I placed a PA hall (tat) 7 lots, one shop 2lots, and 1 factory. He placed the other factory, another shop, and runs the harvestors. I have to be on the ball to remember to keep the factories running constantly, but it works great. No, I'm not a major med vendor, and don't really want to be. I have a small customer base and it works for me.

Wow, wouldn't that be nice to have that sort of operation
I don't sell meds so I don't have quite that setup but it's close. But I do agree about getting as many harvesters and stockpiling, I'm still using old Class 4 Liquid Petro that I wish I had harvested more of if I only had more harvesters.
