I'm looking to begin participating in PvP. Can anyone fill me in a little on Doc strategy in PvP? I'm looking to hook up with a group of more experienced PvP'ers, and tag along. But I don't want to be a liability. Any tips would be appreciated.

I am no PvP expert, but I recently joined a PvP guild and am learning.

The general concept of a pure PvP doc is simple. Get in, cure the state or wound, and get out. Keep you guys safe and fighting. The general problems are mind poisons and dizzy. With wounding stuff second. Most times people die from being dizzied or having their minds cooked.

Here's the things I've done to prepare for PvP action.

1. Build some macros. See the Doctor guide for the template and adjust to your taste.
You'll need a cure dizzy, stand macro. Trust me you'll need this. Build a cure all macro. Put all your cures and heals into one macro. Start with curepoison and end with rez. You may also want to remap the target next ally button to something you can pound fast.

2. Get some good stun armor. Whole suit since you'll be buffed.

3. Get a PSG or two. They do work. You just have to toggle them on and off when you jump planets.

4. Make sure you have all the meds you'll need. You may need to build some super high power poison cures for CMs. Yes, you need fire blankets.

5. Never leave home without mind buffs and mind food. Learn who are the faction dancers and musicians. You'll need them later. Get some good Halva for anti CM action.

6. Start with a small team to get the feel of speed of PvP. It's faster than PvE.

7. Bring a bunch of low quality buff packs. You'll be buffing a lot to start with.

That's all I've got. So far I've done Ok, but not great, but I'm still learning too.

Bayland has many good points. I will only add alittle.

First, look at your team size.

1-5 or so

Mostly healing but some fighting. Pick a fight prof. Fencer is nice for def. Carbines are nice for distance KD so you buy your self some time for you partners to do some killing. The others are ok as well. But with this small size you need to helpout in the offense and not just support.

5-10 or so

Nothing but healing and rebuffing. Don't bother with buffing the seconaries if your in a clone zerging war.

10+

Find a place where others can run to you when they get mind poison/disease. You will not be able to chase after everyone. I have seen docs in large battles hide inside a large pet. It looks funny as hell but it makes it a little bit more of pain for others to target you.

Watch the group display. Look for the poison and disease icons. Set up a tell macro that shoots out a tell like

"you've been diseased/poison run TO me fool, not away". Nothing pisses me off more then when a team mate runs from me when I am trying to heal them.

Get to know your mind foods and how to use them.

Learn to stagger your brandy.

Canope is good but it does not last long.

Arasha (sp?) last a lot longer and a better choice in long fights.

Don't eat or drink anything until the fighting starts. 90% of PvP is just sitting around waiting on the other faction to show up.

As suggest set up some cure macros. One set to healtarget and another set to heal yourself.

Remember to pull your meds out of your crates. Nothing worse than hitting your macro and finding out you do not have any more meds pulled.

If your in a clone war then any crappy buff will due. They will die by the mind anyway. The buff will just let them hit a few specials before they get wacked.

Be mindfull of what's going on around you. Such as the red dot who thinks he's slick, runs around your front line to the rear to take you out.

Always keep in mind, as the enemy CM's keep throwing they're poisons and you the doc keep healing.... the other team is going to eventually ask... "OMGZ **edit** R DA DOCS?!?!?!"

And when they find out..... the majority of the other team is going to /target and kill you, or at least try.

You should always be keen to find safe spot just behind your main lines to retreat to, so the other team doesn't get you.

Don't be a stupid healer and don't heal the stupid.

For example.... 5 people of your 25 man group decides to assault a turret which is clearly bugged and killing everyone in 1 shot. While you are risking your life to save them, you die yourself... meanwhile the other 20 people in your group just lost they're doc. There are more examples of things players do to commit suicide in PVP, but this is one of them.

Very good points, definitely hide your MD tag and go annonymous so others can't find you by doing a character search. You're mostly going to do poisin/disease/fire healing, if possible try to hide yourself as best as you can because once people know you're the Doctor they'll be gunning for you because you pose one of the highest threats.

Like others said, never go into PvP fights without mind/secondary buffs, make sure to carry stun armor around, the right foods based on your other class, and try to keep alivethe ones who deal the most damage and not worry too much if others die because eventually the will.

I recently parcipated a large scale PVP (about 70+) and there were about 5 or 6 other doctors on my side with me and I still had a hard time keeping track of everyone but had a blast. Bayland made alot of good points, and having the largest mind pools is important as I had a 3791 mind and 2300+ focus/willpower along with 3300+ HAM throught the whole raid and was the last one alive in my group.

The stand+healstate dizzy self is probably one of the most important macros, I have a single macro that attempts to clear the combat queue and heal all (state, fire, poison, disease and bleeding) in a single macro.

All of these are very good tips. Here's what I do generally if I don't feel like trying to break through defense stackers:

I /follow a CM/Rifleman around and just heal all of his states, poisons, diseases, etc...

I find this is about the best combination since I usually am not targeted until a minute or two into the fight and that way the CM/Rifleman (or any good ranged prof I suppose) can deal a ton of damage, stay alive, and seriously hurt and opposing army.
