After playing Master Artisan and dabbling in DE and WS, I discovered I enjoy the quests and hunting a lot more, but didn't want to go full true combat. Doctor seems like what I'd like to do, so I'm getting close to Novice Doctor and planning on going all the way to Master. I also am working on Carbineer. Finally, for RP purposes I'm taking 0040 Entertainer (hanging out in cantinas).

Any thoughts on the combo of Carbineer and Doctor? Also, if my math is right, I've got 23 points left over -- not really enough to keep part of artisan, so any suggestions on what would be useful?

My wife was a MDE/MCM/Carbines --4- (IIRC). She tired of the details of DE, and is currently:

MCM / Carb 4443 (working to master) / Doc 4---.

However, she's enjoyed the Doc profession ( wound healing primarily at the moment ) even more than carbines, and is thinking of converting to:

MCM / MDoc / Carbs --4-.

She's found that the basic attacks are enough when coupled with a L54 weapon for PvE, loves the ranged DoTs of CM, and wants to gain the buffs to help players. And, as a bonus, has really great healing abilities in group combat.

As a TKM / Doc 4--- / Fencer 2--3 ( working towards master ), I find her character an invaluable group member and really don't like to group hunt if she's not in the party.

I would consider MD / Carbs a reasonably good template, nothing to be ashamed of ( at least PvE : I have no experience with PvP ). Based on your RP requirements, I might suggest any of the following:

* MCM / Medic -44- / MCarb / Ent --4- ( no heal wounds or buffs, but strong healer/carbineer)

* MDoc / Medic 424- (bacta toss) / MCarb / Ent --4- ( strong doc + full carbineer + a little ranged healing )

* MCM / MDoc / Marksman --34 / Ent --4- ( basic carbines skills, but great healer )

All of the above reach CL 80, and depending on how much you like carbines and/or the CM DoT attacks, may be enjoyable. The last is my personal favorite, but it's probably a little medical overkill.

Hmmm, I calculate that you have only 9 points left over. I am basing that on you obtaining master carbs though so I may be wrong as well!!! As for what to spend your remaining points on, I don't believe you'll get much benefit putting them into a combat class so the ranged healing tree in medic is probably a good choice.

Myself I spent the extra points in Scout and went for Novice BH in the end, I find the terrain negotation modifiers to be useful as I have a habit of losing vehicles!!! Masked scent isn't that much use these days unfortunately

A base profession requires 15 points for novice, and 14 points for each line (2+3+4+5). Elite professions require 6 points for novice (I think?) and 14 points for each line (5+4+3+2). Adding 6 points for base master or 1 more for mastering the elite profession and it requires 77 points to master a base profession or 63 to master an elite profession. If I'm already off, someone please let me know.

But my problem was just that I forgot Carbineer needs 0044 Marksman, not 0040.

Heh, I've made those kind of mistakes many a time

I would recommend one of the following character builders as well:

Online one

and for an offline one, the builder at www.bloodfin.org is excellent, I haven't actually used it post CU as I can't access the site for some reason but I do know it has been updated.

Looks like someone beat me to an online builder, though it loaded real slow for me. I am manually converting it to post-CU. I have 14 more professions to convert. It takes me about 1-1.5 hours to update a single profession. If I could contact Doritos Vodkaand get a sql dump...I could finish my builder in a matter of minutes. Anyone know what server he plays on?

According to his profile, his server is Chilastra

For me personally, for group healing in pvp having a ranged proffession is a pain in the rear end. My TKM is close up in your face , which makes it super easy for me to do a little fighting and healing range isnt a problem. Plus I can wear my bio-engineered clothing because I have innate armor.

I don't really do PvP, just PvE. TK looks interesting, I might give it a shot at some point.

I think DOC/TKM is sort of a staple in the game. The two just mesh so well together. Awesome defense plus insane heal, and then mix in the fact that in pvp this is the situation I am up against:

1. team starts flying in overt, first wave dies in seconds 2-4 bodies lying dead, counterattack imminent. Ok this is when a doc shines ; drag all players to ya get consent and with in 2 minutes all dead are revived , healed and rebuffed and reformed in one area.

2. counter attack hits people fall and fall fast without heals: ok this is where things get tricky, with a doc u can keep your jedi, and melee fighters alive while rifleman pound away. Keep those incaps getting up fast and no DB happens you save the day,and possibly some jedi about 6 hrs of grinding.

3. Critical point is here: war of attrition begins and at this point everyman for themselves, TKM kicks in COB is up, healing myself with infuse, and KD'in like a mofo. Of course this is just a shortened version of a very intricate play that unfolds but you get the idea.

IMPS FOR THE WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!! )))
