I

(I've also posted this in the "General" section, but I have a feeling it will be buried. Please, fellow Docs, add your comments and hopefully something constructive will come of this. )

f you spend any time in either of these places of healing, you see how irritated most of the players get over PvP activity within the walls. A lot of people would like to see a fix to this, and while it might not be perfect, I'd like to suggest an idea to be swatted around.

We've all been to a theme park or a house to which we didn't have access. You get bounced out, right? Well, think if Med Centers and Cantinas had a feature similar to this - anyone engaged in ACTIVE combat gets bounced out immediately.

Now, this would not effect STARTING combat in the med center or cantina, but once the combat is iniatied, BOTH parties get booted OUTSIDE.This way, people with TEFs couldn't hide inside either buildings as a safe zone, and even Docs could get thrown out if engaged in battle.

Face it - these places are not meant for fighting. Please, at least think it over.

Thank you.

Nice idea but keep in mind that a dancer will get kicked too if he gets a TEF from healing.

just think of this:

You're a medic healing some1 ...

a group of rebels/imperials are waiting outside ... on of them gets inside and since you are overt he targets you ... get into a fight ... get bounced outside .. and before you know what happened ur dead ...

and im thinking this feature will get exploited a lot ...

i do think a war could start within a cantina ... but you cant start a fight in a hospital or when ur in a fight .. you cant enter the hospital

---personal opinion---

The biggest problem with this is the assumption that combat should not take place in these places.

They are public places...

There are places that factional PVP is harder to start... Faction base med centers/ cantinas. Being of an opposing faction is a good way to be ganged up on in these places.. making them much safer foir OVerts to heal at.

In the SW universe, bars are one of the places that fights start the most!

As for med centers... why should people not fight there? More importantly.. what punts them out? Magic?

I have had more complaints about pets in med centers then PVP... go figure.

I like your idea. I think med centers and cantinas should be no fight zones, but you can't base it off of the TEF. Medics get TEFswhen they heal overts. Also, it would mean that anyone with a TEF would have to wait for it to wearoff before entering a medcenter to be healed.

A possibly better solution would be to simply make it so combat commands don't work in medcenters and cantinas ...kinda like the fact that CH cannot call pet in certain places.

I play an Impmedic and I have to say I rather like it that PvP comes in every now and then

I'm mentally dead, clicking through crafting screens with a nearby player targeted and suddenly WHAM, a red dot on the radar, I'm getting shot I have to react and escape

It certainly livens the game up

Remember that people are immune to PvP unless they take sides voluntarily. No one can be shot who hasn't ground through 200 faction points and is Overt or healing Overts. So all it means to neutrals is a bit of noise and some bonus exp

Remember too it's a war, not a private invitation-only tea party. Players are entitled to attack the Med Centre because we're putting their opponents back on their feet

such a sucky idea

Imp group comes in town, they target every overt rebel and they all get booted out and can be killed??

for brawlers and medics is the only safe place (to get enemy to get close for a brawler and dont get shot at all the time for a medic)

this should stay IN, or u have to make it so we can drop furniture in town to mess with LOS to get a safe place (as there is no real cover other then to get into buildings right now)

Yeah I don't think that idea would fly. Perhaps we could have another alternative with a kind of security system inside the med center that punishes the *instigators* of combat. If you are caught starting combat, it attacks you (with mini turrets in the walls - perhaps stun guns or something) or alerts the authorities or something like that. It would have a limited range in the vicinity of the med center. That way griefers are punished.

If you are already in combat and you cross into that med center security zone, you are also targetted and told to leave the med center alone. Of course with warnings and all before any action is done. That way ppl inside who are being peaceful are protected. If they are attacked inside the med center, they have the security system on their side. Ppl engaged in fighting cannot use it as a safe haven. I dunno. It might have a loophole in that one, but right now it seems fairly sound to me. Its believable and sounds like it could work. While they don't have to make the security system crazy uber, it would at least be a deterrent for med-center griefers.

Personally I'm against barring cantina fighting. Though you could have a group of local thugs trying to keep order in the place I guess.
