Thread: Ideas on Making Money

Ok, I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about making money… so I thought I’d start a thread to help give people ideas on how to make money as a doctor.

First. Put up your doctor title and get a droid with a medical module. You’ll get tells from people who want a quick heal. Many times you can request a payment from them, as you save them a trip to the medical center, and a doctor can heal wounds fast. I’ve found that even if you don’t request money, about half will tip you 1k or more if they have significant wounds.

Second. Sell enhancements to entertainers at the cantinas. Just give them the action and stamina buffs, that’ll let them do all the special moves they want (with D packs anyways), letting them level faster. I charge 400 credits for those two buffs. At first, no one would pay for the enhancements… so for two nights I gave them out free. After that I had some people who would beg me to come visit their cantina. Sure this isn’t a lot of money… but if you’re passing through a city anyways, making a few extra credits doesn’t hurt.

Third. Charge hunting groups. Go to the advanced planets… there are a lot of big hunting groups there. And since you have your title on, you should get lots of requests to join. Many of these big groups will head out and be 10 minutes or more away from town. All of a sudden those revive packs are looking very nice… so charge 1k to revive someone. You’re saving them a 10 minute run solo through hostile mobs… 1k is cheap (I’ve been thinking about raising the price even). I’ve made lots of money this way… on one recent hunting trip, we were out for just over an hour, and I revived 36 people! Another thing to charge for is your enhancements. Cast the health and action enhancements on your self… when everyone sees the stat increases, they’ll want them as well. Charge 2-3k for a full buff… I’ve found that about a third to half of the group will buy the enhancement. Put everything together, and you can make 30-60k off a good hunting group. As a side note, this also works for caves on regular planets, but you’re more likely to run into players who are broke.

Fourth. Sell only the best. I currently make some stim pack Bs that are 320 strength and 34 charges, and right now I only sell them by the crate (I’m very back ordered, so I can get away with it). I’ve found some people who’ll pay 50k for a crate of those. Sure, you’ll have other people who say they can buy a stim B for 300 credits… and you tell them to go ahead These are for people who understand that as a low level medic, they can only heal damage every 10 – 15 seconds, so they better make it count when they do. Also, you’re getting 2-3 times the charges on these stim pack Bs, so the cost per charge isn’t that much more then getting low quality stim Bs. For example, a 14 charge stim B that costs 300 credits will have a cost/charge of 21.4 credits. While mine have a cost/charge of 29.4. That’s only a 28% increase to have stims that heal for 2-3 times as much, so they won’t need as many charges to heal themselves. Actually, for CHs who have pets with large HAMs, using my stim packs are actually cheaper then using the ‘cheap’ stim packs. As more people become aware of this, there will be less people crying about price gouging, and more people looking for high quality stim packs. Another benefit of only making the best is that you can afford to pay people to collect the resources for you. At 50k per crate, you can afford to pay people 8 credits/unit for resources, and still make a profit.

Well, that’s all I have for now… I hope some of you can help bring in more ideas.

i asumme that 34/320 Bs are using advanced components? did u factor in the cost of going to lok getting the wheat, getting the tat fiberplast...getting the dantooine berries and talus water? cost not only in terms of money but time?

did u also factor in the fact that not everyone is getting crafting?

Also i dont feeling like buffing people and bugging their HAM bars and it happens alot to me...im actually doing them a diservice in some ways.

the 3rd idea is great one and u'll see mroe and more people at master levels doing that.

While I don't go to lok and such for the advanced components, I have a few people who will for 8cr/unit. Also, I haven't had buffs bug someone's HAMs for well over two weeks. Currently, their bars extend farther then they can see. So either they can mouse over, or use ctrl-C to see what there stats are if they are still off the screen. Otherwise, when they start seeing damage, then they know they're back down in their normal range.

Same here on the HAM bars. No problems with sticking, just the extension problem.

They DO resize correctly for everyone else, only the person buffed as that problem with their bars extending past the edge of their HAM bar screen, instead of resizing the bars.

So for personal groups, this is simply not an issue. Heck even when the bars were locking it wasn't an issue for them, except for the Mind bar. They simply rely on me to watch their HAMs for them and they just don't worry about them otherwise.

Now for buffin someone you are not grouped with, they'll jsut need to be aware fo the issues.

I dont find making money a big problem, im a master surgeon and it takes me about an hour 30 min to make about 160k credits. I just go to Dath and do missions solo, its really not that hard.

I've never gone to Dathomir. How tough is it?
