Thread: Faction points for healing
Most of the game time spent by Doctors and Medics (not necessarily Combat Medics) is spent in the Clinics, so gaining faction points by running missions is nearly impossible. However, when a skirmish breaks out between the Empire and Rebellion, everyone screams for healing. I do not think that it would give medics, doctors (or even entertainers) an unfair faction advantage to remain at their posts and gain faction xp for doing what we set out to do: heal our comrades in arms.
Furthermore, we (doctors) tip our hands and lose our covert status as soon as we heal. "Choosing" to put ourselves at risk is, in my opinion, worth more to the the true nature of the rebellion or the tyrannical domination of the Empire than blowing an NPC base to bits for a few faction points and a few bank credits.
And right or wrong, I will often give preference to beaten down Rebels over non-members when running triage in the clinic.
Others who play healers of any sort, what are your thoughts? Run and gunners, yours?
When on Corellia, visit the clinic in Coronet for the best in bedside manner (Nauritus server) and ask for Iodat. (Also posted in the civil war general discussion board)
Obla di obla da. Obi wan...
I think I get the point...and Paul McCartney would have made a **edit** fine Rebel. But John was the Jedi.

JOHN the Jedi? Come on - if there's one Jedi in that group, it's gotta be George!
But I think we can all agree that Ringo was Jar Jar.
I think medics, doctors, combat medics, should all get faction for healing during skirmishes. Someone said that most medics and doctors spend most of their time in the clinic, but i spend 10-15 minutes a day in there, and that is when I get slain running missions with my friends. Usually loot missions, but sometimes rebel missions. I get frustrated, when I heal people, and after it is all over they all go Yaaaaayyy I got 28 faction points for that. I go "BOOOOOO, I got none." It frustrates me because they are getting ranks, and they can get cool stuff with all of their faction.
How tough is a doctor? Not tough at all.
But when i get the faction to have a Rebel SpecOps Urban Guerilla on my back, I'll go overt.
Thanks--
It seems that most people who have spent "real" time in the med practice understand this problem and realize the disparity in handing out faction points.
Your point about battlefield cheers and jeers is well taken. Even in the guides and other help texts the point is clearly made to get "one shot" in to obtain some combat or weapon experience. That one shot could be the difference between life and death for a team mate. So understandably those of us who have chosen the healing paths should not gripe about not getting pistol experience for such an encounter.
Faction points on the other hand are a completely different animal...They bond you to a group that you have chosen to align yourself with. And they do offer "perks" such as armor. Making the same choice as just mentioned, Faction points should be awarded for staying in the fray, and keeping your comrade in arms alive and viable for the faction.
I retract any suggestion that Medics, Doctors, Combat Meds (And any of the Mind Healing Entertainers) never leave the clinics or cantinas--obviously earned some faction points myself along the way, so I have tumbled a time or two through the Corellian forests.
