Because you personally want to be a doctor more than a combat medic. Do what you want to do, not what other people tell you how to play. You can choose to be a doctor then find out you may like combat medic better so you sell back doctor and buy combat medic, or you just go master of both. Its all personal preference.

Perhaps I should go into more information. I haven't done the research to clarify the difference between the two. What I have read says more or less this.. "Doctors buff" and CM's "Heal range because every thing else is broken.."

I KNOW it has to go deeper than that, and both professions are equally interesting. I suppose what I really want to know, is what inspires YOU to be a doctor? A master of the healing arts?

I like the positives on a profession, but these boards often display the negative side. What makes you tick? What exhilerates (sp) you while in your Doctor profession?

Many threads have discussed this topic in quite detal. You'll probably get a lot of info by running a search.

I am a Master Doc and half-master Pistoleer.

I like the feeling of a job well done when I heal someone in one shot, but combat medics can do that as well. Same for healing wounds. The biggest thing I like is tanking redcons that by all means should waste me. Thats where buffs come in.

Before I started using buff packs I would take faction missions and kill rebel NPC's. Two white cons would regularly kill me. A red con meant abort mission. Now 2 reds only bother me if one is a rifleman.

When I hunt with RL friends, the buffs help an amazing amount. I even buff my faction pet for regen stats (and health/action if I feel like it). My best buff so far was 2000 points, and average is 1400. That's a huge difference in Action/Health, as well as regen and cost saver stats.

It is wrong that SO many things for CM are broken, it has great potential, but with it's problems, I never looked at it seriously.

I have a second character that will become master doc/TKA if I ever get around to playing him. There are enough skill points to master Medic/Doctor/TKA and still have just enough artisan to get Survey I. I'm having so much fun with the doc now that I don't know if I will ever play him regularly, but he's there, and if he ever gets where the template will take him, he will be a great killer.

Start his way to TKA soon. The nerf for Vibro-knuckles certification only at TKA Novice is on test center right now. Without them you'll be doing a very slow unarmed grind. (Especially Unarmed 3-4, then 4 to TKN)
