Thread: Are we the next flavor of the month?

With critters being reduced, there will be fewer ways to solo. One way to build up your critter, and yourself, is to go Doctor. My question to you: will Doctors become the next "Must Have" profession? The recipe for solo buffers?

Not to sure since you have to master medic to get to doctor,(which would be a LOT of points IMHO)but I am starting to see alot of people working on their medic skill sright now and more than a few "Master Surgeons" running around lately. But at least as a well balanced doc who is looking at master VERY soon 2-4-3-3 (ALMOST 2-4-4-4) I find people tend to come to me for heal/buffs than to the master sugeons. Don't know, just have to wait and see. But cross our fingers because from the pattern here they nerf the profession to scare away the "dabblers".

This is a concern of mine, I see a lot of new doctor and buffing questions. Taking a look at what happens to the popular proffessions, and seeing that there are alot of new faces in the doc proffession, I think there is cause for concern. However, the people that are in it just for the buffs will never be able to buff as powerfully as a master doc. Wound treatment increases buffing capablility, finding someone to sell buff packs takes up alot of time and resources, making your own does the same. Lets hope these dabblers will see how much of a pain it is to make and sell/use buffs vs. just shelling out the 5k for a job.

You're seeing that in most of the elite forums of non combat types.

My hypothesis? Holocrons. Generally those that get them have combat classes mastered and they are told to go master advanced macrame crafting or somesuch and we get the newbie questions.

Just my guess...

Well I would say yes & no. First off let me state that I came from DAoC and always played either a healer or healer hybrid character. When I first started on Naritus I was a trandoshan MCH, trickshot, and Medic 4/4/4/0. The game appealed to me in that you could actually be a truer healer hybrid then in most games. To make a long story short, I got bored with MCH and started looking at Doctor and reading up on it about a month ago. I finally decided to reroll completely, deleted the trandoshan because of stats and rolled a Mon Cal up & coming doctor.

I wanted to be Master Doctor, for cure poison & disease, rez & buffs. I can also with points manage to Master Carbineer in the long run. I like to heal my guildmates & RL friends when hunting, buffing is just one part of the entire package. Heck, after grinding the med crafting first I have found that I enjoy med crafting and the search for the really good resources (as sick as that sounds I know).

Now with that out of the way I see Master Surgeons being a flavor of the month, with enough Medicine Knowledge to actually use the enhances. With a bio-enhanced outfit and bought enhance D packs, someone might be able to buff themselves fairly decently. Yet the uber doods who are usually flavor of the month addicts are not going to want to waste time crafting or probably healing that much in a group or concern themselves with Master Doctor. When they find out how much time & moneyit takes to find resources to craft or how bombarded they get with buff & heal plz tells, that isn't going to suit their fancy either.

So I see Master Doctor still being a class held by those with a slighty different bent than FotM's. I think what you'll find is more dabblers going for the just straight buffer & heal thyself characters hoping to find someone else to make their meds for them. Of course, I could be completely wrong also and that wouldn't be a first either.

Cheers!

Good points. Master Medic makes any doc skills expensive. Yet, all you really need from the doc lines is med use. However, if you're not a BH or a Commando, and you have the extra skill points, why not? As a secondary benefit, you can use the really rocking good stims. So for the combat player, all the benefits are in one line. You can already stim yourself fast, and you get others to make the packs for you. You can do without everything else.

Hmmm. Things to think about.

Well, for me this is the flavor of the last month or two. I went 0/4/3/0 Doctor for the buffs and for the rez packs, and then 0/4/4/0 Commando for the high damaging weapons. Makes me into a solo monster. I love it and I don't think I will change anytime soon.
