I can understand not being able to stim someone else while mounted, but why can't I stim myself?
Using a stimpack is not a special combat move which is the only thing mentioned in the manual, so what's up?
Is this a bug?

Actaully healing actions are special combat moves, they just don;t show up in the queue like they said they would have them do by this publish.

I think the comment remains valid. Certain things should be possible to do while mounted such as:
- Healing self, i.e states, wounds, enhances, damage (I can see why we can't heal others tho)
- Surveying
There's probably more things as well. Currently being mounted removes all specials and most actions. I don't agree with that. For example, isn't surveying while mounted an obvious use for a mount, really? I can see no sample, no harvest, no healing others etc.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the statement was invalid, only that healing is a special action. Otherwise it seems dumb to me too that we ca't at least heal ourselves (or survey) while mounted. I might be able to see not normally healing or stimming someone else, but Ranged and AoEs should be allowed from Mounts, IMHO.

Zarlor,
I think you hit the nail on the head. I thought mounts would be a great addition for Docs, especially those with no Scout for terrain negotiation bonuses. I'm fortunate enough to have the +50 Combat Medic terrain neg, but I really feel for the docs who have to virtually crawl to their harvesters.
I was a little surprised, but not too upset that I couldn't use any pistol specials from the mount. After all, you should be more effective in combat off the mount. Reasonable trade off, I thought.
I was a little more surprised when I couldn't heal other people from my mount. I realise this is a 'special', but it's not totally logical that it is. After all, a non-combat doc may choose to support a group now that they have mounts to gallop away on, and they're not thinking 'special', they're just thinking 'heal'. But, (I thought to myself), it's not totally outrageous I can't heal an unmounted group member.
I was almost totally gobsmacked when, as I ran away shrieking like a jawa, I was taking damage from red cons and I couldn't heal myself. Was I too busy clutching the reins, maybe?
I was further amazed when my AoE and ranged CM stims couldn't be used - I can throw them 40m on the ground, but can't do it from a mount? Special, smecial.
Now, I know that last issue may not sound like a Doc issue. And it isn't... yet. But if we happen to inherit some CM style area or ranged wound heals or innoculations, I'm sure we will.
Frankly, for the expectation, mount has turned out to be little more than a boasting right for the uber-wannabes, and even that will go in a couple of weeks. They *do* make harvester runs easier, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone without terrain neg, but I'm not sure the starport lag is worth it. Saddlebags for my resources & stims and the ability to heal while mounted may return some value.
And while I have the opportunity, thanks for all your hard work, Zarlor.
