Thread: If your a doc with rifleman switch to carbines!
I was a rifleman and would always have to stop fighting to let my mind heal. Since I switched to carbine I am harvesting meat/fighting PvE much more effectively. Since we can always buff ourselves HAM costs dont matter at all and I kept focus and willpower maxed to keep my mind nice and high when healing others, myself and my pet in combat.
Also I only have enough skillpoints for novice carbiner, but that gets me full-auto2 and action shot 2. I am very happy with the results.

let me guess - you never were a master rifleman - well that's your problem buddy - at master with muon gold and migrated stats you should be able to take out anything
Actually I've had quite a bit of good luck with Rifleman/Doctor, it's all in the weapon and attacks that you use when fighting, add to that a good stat migration to help out Focus and Willpower and you don't have much to worry about.
As long as you've got Master Surgeon and Medical Professor tagged you can expect some good results in buffing your CON, STR, QUIK, and STA (I've hit 2k on some Enhance D's). So giving up higher secondaries in Action and Health isn't TOO bad, and the extra boost to your Focus and Willpower helps alleviate the mind costs of certain high powered rifles with attrociously high mind costs.
On another note, on Tarquinas, I have been able to obtain Laser Rifles (still no T21's yet on Tarq *shakes fist*) with very good mind stats...some almost as low as 50-60 and the max damage on some of these BEFORE slice is darn near close to 400, add to that a good 30% slice in either speed or damage and you've got one helluva weapon, add a 32% dmg powerup to that sliceand you're the tap specialist for any creaturelair.
Keep in mind though, you should always expect to be jumped by several mobs at once, and if it turns into a total knockdown dragout fight, it's always a good idea to have a Muon Gold handy in case you do get low on mind, although it has adverse effects (duh it IS a spice), if you're smart you can get out of the situation before you hit the downer.
