Thread: question of all you crafting docs that sell buffs

Do you think that 90 or less med use packs sell better? There are definitely alot of dabblers that have 0240 so they can buff themselves, but it seems that the majority of business would come from starport buffers, and 99% of the time they are masters.

So the question really is, do I put the extra point to med use or get a few more charges?

if you are a 12 point doc i suggest putting a point to lower the meduse, that will give you a bigger widespread of customers instead of just limited which will turn more sales = more $$$$

I competed as a 10 point doc for several months, and even longer as an 11 point doc. As a 10 pointer, just concentrate on selling to master docs.

The important thing to remember is that the hardest thing you will have to do as a crafting doctor is find and procure top quality resources. I would concentrate on that before considering the investment in skill tapes to get those extra points.

Being a crafting doctor isn't for everyone, if you concentrate on the resource gathering and decide that you don't like it you can always sell off the resources for a tidy sum (at least what you paid for them if you bought wisely). If you jumped in and bought skill tapes and applied them to get to be a 12-pointer, you can't sell them off quite as easily (too many gender/species specific clothes in this game IMHO).

Take your time and see if you like the challenge of building the business first...

11pt is wonderful and easily obtainable with an apron and a few cheap +1 tapes.

I sold buffs commerically for a long time as a 11pt doc. now i'm a 12 pt'er and the only difference between my packs is 1 addition charge and 3 more points on the power.

If you are an 11 or 12 point doc, then it pays to lower the med use. I only stock packs that are 90 med use or lower even though most of my costomers are master docs. It opens my costomer base to include the 0440 docs.

So here is a follow up question, same topic

Can a master doc who is not a +12 point or +11 point have a chance at crafting anything worth a darn and compete in the buff, medpack, etc market?

or is it a must that a doc wanting to craft, get a 12 point suite?

You can make buffs every bit as powerful (except for a bit less power on ABECs, drops maybe two points per experiment point) as 11 or 12 point doctors ... you just can't make more widely useable buffs, or add charges to it. In addition, I think it's a bit more difficult to get good results (remember crafting at Organic Chem 4 and hoping for greats, as opposed to expecting them?)

i have been selling buffs for over a year and i always put my extra points into charges, 90med use does open up the market a little for the doc dabblers but they are not the people buying 3+ sets a day off you, more likley 1 set a week. a starport buffing master doc will look at how much profit he can turn from your buff packs, if you have 2-3 more uses in your packs thats 30k+ extra in his pocket. very rare i get requests for non master packs and if i do i just hand craft them because they usually just want 1 or 2 sets.

After i got 12pnt doc, iwas trying to make my buffpacks 90 med use.

But i changed my idea last days.

Because first of all, Surgeons have less wound treatment than Docs. This affects buff power and many Surgeons have problem to find people if there is also any Doctors available for buffing people. There is enough buff supplier in our galaxy for 90 med use. So i use my extra one experimentation to charge and it gives extra 2 charge in one experimentation at higher charges. I make minimum 28-29 charges and good prices on my packs, all my master doctor customersare happy.

I get special orders from Surgeons and many time they haven't enough cash and they can buy only one or twosets.

I make these sets by manual crafting or if i have big order for 90 med use i do it by factories.

I think as a rule the 89-90's sell better though I've found that there are plenty of master docs (especially buffshacks) to keep me emptied out on my master level packs so I've never personally seen the need to produce anything other than those.
