Thread: Just what do Revive paks do anyway?

I am Kazzy M'odo,

I have Master Doctor skills in Wound treatment, Wound Treatment, and in Medical Knowledge and the titles of Master Surgeon and Medical professor. I am still grinding my way through the insane requirements of crafting for the Medical crafting skills but one day I will arrive there.

In the Mean time though, I have acquired some revive paks and a few times now attempted to use them. With the newbee rules in and working the revive paks were pretty worthless but now that we are back to needing cloning and insurance for things it seems like a revive pak would be handy.

When I do test the revive pak it either doesnt do a thing, it heals all my own mind wound damage, or it tells me when I target a fairly fresh corpse that I cant heal NPC's. Since I cant make these myself, I at a loss here. I had to pay 1k per use on the revive pak I got so its not a cheap option.

I come from the EQ background where a revive was like a Ress and your efforts brought a player back to their corpse. In this world it seems like this could be possible but so far IM not seeing much to help me with this situation.

My question then, what does a revive pak do besides healing mind wounds, and when can one use it ?

BTW the mind wound heal part is pretty pathetic, unknowingly I had a macro set to heal people with a single key stroke. With the revive pak in my inventory, mind you the 1k per use cost, I started healing mind wounds instead of action damage and health woulds.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer,

Kazzy M'odo

Revive packs can only be used to player characters who have died and not yet clicked ok to return to the cloning facility. They will respawn the PC where they were laying with a bunch of HAM damage and a few wounds.

The revive kits are currently bugged allowing them to be used on a living person to heal wounds so keep them in a backpack until you are ready to use them.

Just my two cents worth but doesnt this make the revive skill next to worthless?

Unless you are grouped with the person and right next to them you really have no way of knowing they have not clicked on their corpse yet. It seems like I will have to train my whole guild and group members on revive usage before I can even attempt to use it.

Hopefully by the time I can actually make the paks myself, they will work better. I really need a way of knowing when and if a person is revivable. The feedback I get right now is not very useful.

I would appreciate knowing how well the revive paks do work, when they work at all.

Thanks,

Kazzy M'odo

Until more people understand that the revive packs exist and what the rules are, it's the Doctor's job to educate your group NOT to clone on death.

I love using them, they are a great time saver - even with the newbie death rules in effect.

Just remember, as the doc, you need to run when your party starts dropping. They can die, but if you die, then everyone is screwed.

I totally agree EwokMuffin.

My medic has revived me several times (actually twice against the same Mauler Master, but let's not get into that ). It saves me the trouble of having to run all the way back from the clone center to rejoin my group.

They are a definite time saver. And now with insurance once again required, it saves me having to reorganize my inventory when I get back to my corpse

Now if I can only figure a way to use the revive kit when MY medic dies.... Hmmm...

Try using them from the radial menu on the pack itself, that's the only way they work for me. Wow, where'd you get 1k/use?

I have been using revive kits for a while and here are the basics:

1) What everyone says about them firing off accidently is correct. If you have them in your inventory, theplayer character patient has mind woundsand you are using the /healwound macro, the revive kit will fire off. So keep it in a backpack until ready to use. This is an identifiedbug that is hopefully being worked on.

2) You can only use it on player characters. In order to use it on them you must either be grouped with them or have corpse consent from them.

3) Slain players should not touch anything once they are dead. Do not select cloning, do not close the cloning box, do not hit escape, TOUCH NOTHING. For now you have to instruct all of your group mates on that.

As far as value goes, ask anyone who has been revived 4000m from the nearest outpost on a planet like Lok or Endor, or anyone in thier group that didn't have to wait on them for a'corpse run', they will surely tell you the value.

If you have your res kits in your backpack and use the shortcut icon. It will draw from your backpack without having to move them into your main.

The thing to remember about them is that thier med use is currently bugged backwards. If they fix it then the med use on them will go into 90-100 range which will make them at MD skill like they are supposed to be.

Don't think they will stay at 42-50 med use forever.

I LOVE them!

Yes, you must inform them not to clone or even sneeze at the clone option box. Be surethier curser is in the spatial box before typing a /tell. (this can be done)

If they are in a precarious spot, well thats what /dragincompacitated is for.

I keep my rez kits in my pack and keep them on the hotbar. Get /consent from player and click it right off bar. Them throw a D stim on them and advise them to eat thier grogginess off. (they will have stats lowered from the rez effects)

I have rezzed a few people that died around Sariff's Weapon Shop, but last night is a good example:

Zun tells you: "I died at WP <blah blah>, can you come rez me?" Sure, and off I go. I get there and his slayer is still drooling over him, so I get him to give me /consent, /dragincapacitiated him to me out of harms way and rez him.

Now I will warn you, if you rez in range of the slaying mob, you WILL get aggro! Seems mobs do not care for a Dr administering and healing the person they killed.
