Thread: Are there any Docs that do not have Artisan of some type?

Thought so...

We are forced to survey our own resources to cover our supplies. I wonder how those that do not have Artisan function.

I wish there was a way so I would not be forced to take Artisan. Don't get me wrong, I like Artisan skills, but for any profession to be forced to take something is rediculous. Unless Docs can make enough money to buy resources or even find another way to supply themselves, we shall remain in some form or another...a Doc/Artisan

I started with Artisan, but due to a terrible lack of skill points, I will have to give it up. I have the finances to purchase my resources at the bazaar. I hunt for the organics, but the others are purchased.

My eventual skill plan doesn't allow for any Artisan skills, but thus far, having skill points still to spare, I've found myself picking up Artisan and a couple of Surveying boxes TWICE. I had them two weeks ago, gave them back up, and then yesterday grabbed them again in order to get some high quality water on Rori. Every single container of that type of water was being sold on the bazaar for 10 credits per unit, which I absolutely will not pay. Given the difficulty of making money doing actual healing for people, and the market for medical supplies being limited by the fact that most potential customers can just make their own, paying 10c a unit for needed materials is completely counterproductive.

What I'm going to do when I get the rest ofthe Doctor and Ranger boxes I want and have to give up Artisan & Surveying for good, I don't know. Perhaps I'll find some Surveyors willing to take a one time fee for locating good resource concentrations for me to put harvesters on.

if they removed /medicalforage and replaced it with +5 survey and sampling this would solve the problem.

i made a post like this in the medic forums then linked it in the doc and CM forums, but i got like 4 replies.

yeah... we all know thw work arounds for the problem, but we need to FIX the problem, medics are the only class that can't progress in thier professions without the aid of another novice.

Ah, that's not exactly true...most combat classes cannot progress without the aid of crafters. People might say they can find guns and such off of npcs, but that's akin to using medical forage to advance as a medical class. The only classes that can progress on their own without help from any other are Artisan classes...and maybe scouts.

I do not have, had, or ever will have any artisan skills. I buy everything off the Bazzar andgotten all my medical XP at the local hospital, and I live off the tips I get for healing.

I have no artisan skills. I have a friend that is a scout/artisan, and he owns machines. I supply him with 3-4k per day, and he gives me all of the comps I will ever need. I get 1k of everything I need for what I make, per day. It is great that way, I even threw in on a food and chemical crafting terminal to put in our little guild town that we are starting.

Not to get off the subject, but there is a topic that puzzles, and frustrates me to the Nth degree. Little Bunny FuFu, how the hell do you collect enough tips to survive on healing at the hospital, and why don't you go with groups out in the field and make 10x the xp and cash you get in the hospital. When I started as a Novice medic, I knew a couple of Novice Doctors that spent all of their time in the med center. Well, it has been one week, and I am training them in 3rd tier doctor skills already. I just can't see how to survive without grouping and going out in the field.

I don't have room for Surveying skills. I usually just hire a surveyor to find places to plant my harvesters.
