Thread: If you could do it all over again: Doctors orders.
I'm currently considering making a character with the following goal:
To master the Medic class, the Doctor elite profession, the "pistol" branch of the Marksman class "skill tree" and the Pistoleer elite profession. I feel that this would make me extremely useful in both PvP and PvE. This wouldn't give me much elbow room for the Artisan's surveying branch, but I think I could pull it off.
In many ways, I've strayed away from the idea of factories and upkeep cost, preferring the "keep it simple stupid" method of doing things. But I'm willing to change my ways, if you, the Doctor, think it's for the best. So if you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? I know that Master Medic is a grind, much less becoming Master Doctor, but in my mind, it seems like it's worth it. Is it worth it to you? In the beginning, what did you do and what should you have done? What did you craft and what should you have crafted? When did you buy a factory and when should you have purchased a factory? These are some of the things I want to know. The mistakes that you made, and how to not make them.
Thanks in advance. And, as a post script..
If my font appears too big, or too small to some of you, I apologize. My computer has trouble with the scripts that the forum board uses, and has a tendency to fool me into thinking that the font is a certain size when it really isn't! Even worse, one day, while checking a thread that I started, my text will appear "normal," (arial, point size 10) and others, it will be ridiculously large. This is not intentional, so try not to bust my chops about it. Please?
The more I think about it, maybe I just wanted to be a Doctor for the Stim C's and the Revive ability, which would leave me with some skill points left over. However, something about "Master Doctor" just sounds so, catchy. I was also going to make this character an overt faction member. But it'd be tough to set up a macro to survey when you're overt on a planet swarming with the opposing faction, take for example a rebel sampling in the middle of Bestine on Tatooine. So this definitely complicates things. And, if I ever figured out how to make a factory work (and yes, I did read the thread below about some sort of method to get long runs, and no, I didn't understand any of it, and yes, I have an IQ superior to that of a tree frog), I would probably want to sell stuff in crates on a vendor, in a small house, outside of a town, which would require that I also pursue the Business branch of the Artisan skill tree. All in all, this isn't getting any more simple.
Questions, comments, anything?
I myself am doing the exact same thing you are doing. I am currently a novice doctor and very close to master pistoleer. I haven't yet done th e match to figure out if I'll have enough points to keep my 2 points of survey that I have atm but if all else fails, you can hire a surveyor to find the stuff for you. So far this combo is working very well for me. In pvp faction fights I generally serve as a supportive role healing my teamates. While I can also survey for stuff on such planets as lok and dantooine because I can still hold my own, and I can still hunt which is nice. Good luck with your plans, I think it will work out well for you

Good template . I will be doing close to the same
Benifits for being a doc are the buffs are awsome for PvE andgod like in PvP. No more 1 shot killsbymarksman. Your med packs are the best. I make med pack Bs fornovice medics that have 300 heal rating. They sell fast .And of course revive
Xp is obviously gained in groups .The bigger the better. Get one with a death wish and your gold. Xp comesin fast so watch it .Cant tell you how many timesI capped on xp before I knew it . The only thing is you need to craft those med packs and that slows you down a lot. I got a factory to pump out med packs for whenI wanted to get medical xp gain and hand crafted the the ones for crafting xp . I would get a factory as soon as you can get the money to keep it running . Allows you to get xp constantly but your crafting xp suffers
So .... Doctors are definatley worth it . Never turn down a group hunt . Good luck .
ohh and dont do PvP until you are strong enough to fight back. You become the first target the second you heal . I found that out the hard way =(

I know the template is good, but I want to know everything there is to know about the Doctor profession, how to start out as a Medic, what's the fastest way to gain in Medic skills, etc., how long it took you. Telling everyone my template was just some background info. ![]()
