Thread: I can't take the crafting anymore =\ Doc or CM?
Here is my post in SWGmedics - http://www.swgmedics.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1298
I was planning to master the DOC and CM tree.. but getting all the resources and crafting 24/7 is bugging me.
I'm a causal gamer... and I want to play, not craft 50% of my time online and run missions getting money to buy resources.
So I think I'm just going to go doc.. and drop all my CM skills so far.
I heard that CM and DOC need VERY different resources to craft their meds... if this is true, I just can't do it.
Time to redesign my whole tree =)
Well, then... don't. There are plenty of people opening up medical supply stores, once you've reached Master Medic you should never have to craft so much as a stim-A if you don't want to, and you can still max out all your healing skills.
Where's the problem?
I enjoy healing wounds and res'ing people... Combat Medics dont have that.
If I'm a top doc and top pistoleer, aint I already a combat doc? Plus people that need healing, tip (sometimes)... and people in combat never do.
shadok, Yeah I can buy the kits.... but I use them so fast, there is no way I can buy everything I need with the money I get from missions =\. I have enough problems trying to buy the resources cause we can't survey.
Maybe when they fix Combat Medics.... and people are loving them, I'll switch over....
I'm just tired of dieing cause I'm an uber doctor... that can't travel anywhere on my own on a dangerous planet. So I'm dropping Combat Medic and going high into the scout and pistoleer trees =)
All in all, im lovingthe game and love healing... just wanted to hear what other wanna-be MAster Docs and MAster Combat medics were thinking. Thanks all.
Buying packs isn't cheap.... esp when your a broke medic =)
I craft tons of med and can't keep up when I'm in big groups as the only healer.....
At lunch today... I trained novice scout and novice Entertainer....YES! lol.... so nice to free myself from mastering both med trees.
Doctor crafting isn't really that bad. Its true that you can master all of the medical branches of doctor and still be on expert crafting, i know because it happened to me. However, by just gathering a few thousand resources from my harvesters, and practicing crafting nothing but BECs for an hour, i managed to burn through 15000 crafting xp. That finished expert crafting. In another hour i've already gone halfway through Master Crafting, making only practiced Bio Effect Controllers. Admittedly, spending an hour straight crafting the same exact thing is NOT by any means entertaining. But in another hour or two, i'll have mastered doctor crafting and won't have to deal with it anymore.
Could they have made the medpacks worth a little more xp to avoid this? Yes of course. But is it really that detrimental? No. If ican craft through half of expert and half of master crafting in just 2 hours, i wouldn't consider that to be very difficult. Practicing BECs gives you 36 xp each. It only takes 12 resources, 6 of any organic, and 6 of any inorganic. If you have 3 Food/Chem crafting tools, you can craft BECs totally nonstop. I was averaging 5.5 of them every minute.
Doctor crafting xp is such a minimal balance issue when compared to other professions. Droid Engineers (which i also dabble in) are really terrible right now. Commandos are another profession that do't work properly at all. Before we worry about having to earn a little extra crafting xp, lets try to give the Devs the time to fix all the seriously broken stuff first.

crafting isnt cheap either...
but if u are gonna buy ur packs..u can get higher level weapon skills with your extra points and get high paying missions...you should no longer have money issues...
lets see if u drop CM and doc crafting you wouldnt need survey either thus...(in fact u could probably just drop wound speed too for more points)
14 points from no CM, 14 points from no doc crafting, 29 points from no artisan survey, and (14 if u dont get wound speed) thats like 71 points...thats **edit** close to pistoleer/carbineer/rifleman mastery...u should be able to run destroy missions non stop for 6-7k a run 10k+ if you are on a slightly harder planet...with ur healing ablilties u should be able to solo anything...
im have only pistol specialist and i can take out mobs that advanced combat classes can just because i can basically heal forever...
u should have zero money issues with that many extra points
Money shouldn't be an issue really...
I wish people tipped a bit more for healing, and i definitely wish people would tip more for training skills (since the person that buys them originally is saving you a ton of money by training you). But when i'm strapped for cash, i either sell my extra resources or run missions. i have advanced ranged support, and expert pistol and i can do missions just fine...i just have to be a little more selective than normal.
For great mission credits, i do the following:
Go to Kaadara, Naboo.
Get two difficulty 9 gnort missions in the same compass direction, usually SE.
Go to waypoints
Slay all visible gnorts then proceed to shoot lair
After a few OverCharge shots on the lair, i hit peace, and wipe out the gnorts that spawn
I repeat the previous step until the lair is destroyed. I find that if i just concentrate fire on the gnort lair, they will start to regenerate it faster than i can damage it, then i have to start all over again.
After destoying both lairs, i'm approximately 4000 creds richer and i've only spent about 15 minutes to do it. Head back to town and do it again. I earned 40000 creds in a couple hours of missions. And 40000 creds can pay maintenance on all of my harvesters for the better part of the week.

kaadara gnort missions disappear that anything past weapon skill level 3...so this isnt really an option...
Whoa, almost forgot something CARDIAC,
When you power craft bio effect controllers, DO NOT do it near a crafting station, so you can skip the window that asks if you want to experiment or make the manufacturing plan or whatever. Also make sure that you are practicing the BECs so you don't have to clean out your inventory and get the extra 5% xp.
Another important tip is to take the time to setup. I put all of my other resources in my backpack, so the only two resources that show up in my crafting tool are a stack of organic and a stack of inorganic, so i don't ever have to search through my resources for the ones i need. Then move your crafting windows around so that the next buttons and assemble buttons and completing practiced object buttons are all on top of one another. Then you can create tons of BECs with as little mouse movement as possible. By setting my system up like this, i could easily craft 5.5 BECs a minute on average. That is around 200 xp a minute, or 12000 in one hour. Though it is not very interesting, it will get you through crafting in a relatively short amount of time.
