Thread: Trying to deal
Right now i just want to scream, cuss, rant, and rave. My committment to this game (which i've been in since beta) is seriously damaged. I become more and more convinced that the devs think they are trying to beat us and they have to stay on top of matters and make sure we don't enjoy most aspects of the game. I'm trying to stay calm but todays patch is proving a considerable task to stomach.
I'm on Radiant and trying to deal in raw resources and pharmaceuticals while i pursue the doctor and teras kasi professions. I spend an obscene amount of time gaming, but instead of power gaming i have been dipping into the various aspects. I used up all of my skill points and was novice weaponsmith, unarmed and rifle specialist, novice doc, and about half way through scout. The WS grind got to me and i gave it up first to further pursue doc. I have spent some time with most skills and sold them back in my efforts to determine what combo of professions would be most fun for me. This has had the effect of keeping me from reach adv prof while those who started at the same time as me (day 1 of retail), have established themselves as masters of their various professions. This did not bother me because i'm a very patient individual, and what mattered to me was trying the various aspects of the game, taking my time, and above all else, have fun. I care nothing for power gaming, nor do i want to shoot through levels in a matter of days or even weeks as is evident by my overall skills despite playing an avg of 40 hours a week since launch. I however did not realize that others would be benefitting from staying ahead of the devs and beating the nerfs which are make this came consistently less fun and more of a laborious task.
I had a list of game nerfs that i didn't likebut all were tolerable. I am currently 30k from Tk novice and was gearing up to make pharmaceuticals. Now on radiant you can only use components out of a crate if you transfer directly from output to ingredient hoppers and then it's not 100% reliable. If you try to make pharmaceuticals(which take 3 or 4 subcomponents per item) without crates the end result is need for two(or in the case of stim d's 3) factory runs to fill a single crate. I had been going through the process of making 400 of each of the components necessary for stims and wound packs (BEC's, Solid Delivery, Chem duration, and liq susp). This was a workable solution b/c output hopper could hold 10000 so simply left in output till had a sufficient supply to make 2 crates of stim d, one of stim b, then several wound packs. Was approaching the final stage of this arduous process when i logged on today and discovered output capacity now 100, making mine over stuffed and grinding my factory to a halt. Tried to move crates to my house (which makes them useless as an ingredient because now all components have to be inserted individually so that can only make 24 stim d's in a factory run-4 subcomponents), only to discover that my once spacious medium naboo house can hold no more because it's full at 60 (that's six zero) items. So now i have a useless factory and no sellable items. i've spent a lot of time generating business by selling on the bazaar andfollowing up each purchase with a rather lengthy personal email, and now i get to tell people " sorry, no stims for a while till i figure out how im going to keep producing and not have spend 24/7 standing beside my factory unloading and reloading factory runs."
I'm also wondering why the devs don't want melee to be a viable profession? I can only speak to unarmed but man are they killing it. TK is already overmatched by ranged weapon, and while i believe a ranged expert should be able to defeat a TK at range, i don't believe he should win if TK gets jump on him. And what about those of us who don't do much pvp. TK is WAAY harder to level than ranged (i know b/c i also had rifleman), takes much longer to level, and is far easier to kill because up close and personal. This was somewhat balanced by the already nerfed berserk that still gave a reasonable but certainly not excessive dmg bonus and the fact that could fight chuba's without dying by using vibroknuckles. Now Berserk has yet again been nerfed, and only TK can use VK's making pre-TK unarmed boring, laborious, and undesirable, and post TK not all that great (oh i forgot, apparently Knockdown got nerf'd too). So in effective you havea useless class in unarmed. They are tanking so they'll die quicker and they don't do much damage. Gee, what a wonderful plan the Dev's have here.
I was really looking forward to TK even though i knew it would be difficult. Now it's unmanagable. Thought i could buy a little time in my resource and pharmaceutical business but that has come to a complete stop. So, i'm left trying to decide what to do. Do i give in and join the mass of scout/ranged people in hopes of one day being a BH just like every other person on the game, or do I simply say i'm tired of sony spending their time to prove to us once again that they don't know the first thing about customer service/satisfaction. Right now, i'm trying to take a deep breath and give it time. Unfortunately that's what i've been doing since this game went retail (it was in fact a much better game in beta). Now i find myself trying to do that with my only option to become a full time doc or sit in my now crowded home. Neither of these are appealing, and all the goals i want to pursue are currently unmanagable.
Anyway, i just needed to say my peace. I think the devs are heading in the absolute wrong direction and need to start listening and stop trying to "beat" the players by changing the enjoyable aspects of the game. I also think they need to get over their dislike of melee, and stop trying to force everyone online to pursue ranged professions. Feel free to attack me for being negative. I'm not sure how much longer i can stay on this sinking ship anyway. I'll try, but they keep making it harder and harder.
