Thread: Master Doctor thinking about joining the buff building empire

So I was doc before and tried to make my own buffs. Didn't like it, though now I see major cash can be made in selling buff packs.

I'm a MD again and am beginning to think about opening up a buff pack store.

Suggestions please... anything relating to the topic

Stockpiliing is your best friend...if you are starting out again I guess you dont have the diff resources?

To make sellable packs use the best you can get and if what is currently spawning is not good enough ie850 oq+ then dont bother using it..wait for the next shift or the next etc until something worthwhile spawns. Depending on what resources you have right now, and what resources you can lay your hands on it could be up to a month before you can really make something ... patience is a virtue

what about surveying skills and whatnot? i simply loathe surveying, moving another 40m surveying, moving another 40m surveying ... only to find the highest point is at like 60%

is there an easier way to do this?

Here is how I break down the resouces.

1. Avian. Any one making volume buff packs will run out of avain faster than most anything. Why? Because it is a pain to hunt, low quality spawns, low yielding spawns, low paying missions, etc. When there is a good spawn hunt the crap out of it and get everyone you know to hunt it. Pay well to get it (100ish cpu). Avian makes up 2/3 (OQ and PE) of the exp power of the pack. It also makes up 1/2 of the exp duration. As a result it is the most important resouce.

2. Herb. Since you need 2 ACRDM per pack you can go through herb like crazy. The good news is that many people hunt herb since you get more per kill and some of the beasties's missions pay well and give good xp hunters don't mind hunting it. Again, when the spawn is right hunt the dickens out of it. This not the most important resouces there is the issue is just volume. The difference in good and great herb will only change your buff pack by 30ish points.

3. Gas. The OQ of the reactive gas will make up about 1/3 of the power in the buff pack. The DR will make up about 1/2 the power. So it is important to get good stuff. The good news is that many resouces vendors will have it in stock so you can just buy it. Even if you pay 20 cpu it is still a cheap resouces since you only need 22-28 per pack.

4. The other stuff (class 4, dol Iron, lok wheat, etc). At any given time these can be in short supply of good stuff. When they do come in good farm the dickens out of it. Offer a bounty for a good waypoint in your trade forum. Dol Iron and Class 4 are often the most rare of things since the spawns don't happen in good OQ very often.

5. Get to be friends with a good resouce vendor. Help them when you can. When nothing is in season that you need offer them the use of thier lots to farm other things. When a med resouces is in season offer to buy the stuff as they farm it.

Well, these are my tips. Not a great list but something to get you started.

Any good crafter is in it for the long term. I just takes that long to get enough of a all the right things to make high end items.

However, if you want to make a much easier buck try making stims B's.

For those here is may advice

1. Get the best inorg and org items you can find. Just wait for them to spawn. See the FAQ for details of what stats to look for. These will be the most important items in the stims. Since you can pick almost any resouces there are always good ones you can harvest yourself. Again just ask someone for a waypoint.

2. Get the best dant berries and talus water you can buy. Don't skimp. You only need 6 units of each per stims so the resouce cost is low. Also the ALS is by far the most important sub comp. so make it the best it can be.

3. Get lok wheat and tat fiber to make the most charges you can. Forget about the power. Look at the FAQ for the stats that will make charges.

4. For the CRDM use the same resouces as (1). Don't bother making advanced CRDM just make non advanced. A good non advance is about 19. A good advanced is about 60. That 40 extra power will cost you about 40% of your costs since you need herb and class 4. If you do go for the advanced make sure you jack up the price so your still making money. The PvPer will pay the extra for the extra power so sometimes it is worth the investment.

Notice that you don't need any hunted resouces (non advanced CRDM) and most of the resouces needed are non specific. As a result you can make them for very little. I have a good felling that when everything gets the big nerf rebalance that stims will be where the money is .

I agree.

There is good money to be made, but it is anything but easy.

I've got 4 months in and still going.

I run out of herb more than anything though.

I've been selling buff packs for 5 or 6 months now... I don't know how people with only 10 lots can manage. I have three accounts, and I got 600k or more of some resources... and sometimes nothinggood spawns for ages after that and in the end it's not enough, like liquid 4 on my server. For the meat, unless you have lots of spare time and don't mind getting bored out of your mind running missions, you can just buy it but you have to pay a lot for it... I prolly spent around 20 million just for the meat that I currently have in stock, and even hunting it myself as well for hours Ialways run out. So if you just like killing things running janta missions is prolly a better way of getting good money without so much trouble.

I only have 1 account.

I hunt almost all my own meat to keep the cost down. To max my harvest here is what I do.

1. Get a good fight class like TKM.

2. Use your extra points on scout, hunt 1.

3. Get the best harvest droid you can. (over 100).

4. Get the best veghash you can (+30 ish). It will pay for itself. A crate will cost about 100k but if you can get a few extra k of meat then it will pay for itself easily.

5. For get about surveying for yourself. Just find someone to do it for you and pay them. By far the limiters will be avain and herb.

When there is a good spawn then buy as much as you can as well as hunt.

I tend to switch my spare skill pts about between scout and artisan every few days depending on the spawns. Save up for BER13 harvesters this will minimise the lots you use to gather good amounts quickly. check your galaxy forums to check for any good spots after you check the realtime resource. Post a request for some good waypoints to avoid slow surveying, if not you'll be too busy( I hate it when I get too involved crafting and forget) to play the game.

For meat I found a team of scouts on Bria who will harvest to order once youtell them aspawn and the cpu, although it's more expensive doing it yourself, less hassle is what I'm looking for. If anyone on Bria wants to try them send J'anis a tell ingame, he's the only name of the group I have atm but theres a few of them and they work fast. If people on Gorath have the same setup then try them . Avoid going round shops if you can, you'll waste so much time buying the wrong things because you'll get frustrated at the lack of availability

Try not to make subcomponents until you have colossal amounts of resources, once you experiment on your schematics you can just keep churning out matching buffpacks and the final crafting procedure should be more of a formality. Will you be producing regular buffs and med use 90 packs too? I'd check with a few docs on the forum to check whether its worth the hassle as I've never personally bothered with lower med use packs and I've got no idea how well they sell.

If youre going to sell other meds as well then why not try to diversify a bit and include 110 med droids, bioenhanced clothing and bivoli too.

Good luck if you're brave enough to go ahead with your idea

(how did devs think docs could manage on so little pts, lots, all kinds of resources to harvest, crafting time and still manage to sell buffs to make a profit when you can make 3 times the cash running janta missions, without the annoying tells while trying to remember which stats you've already buffed while trying to stop the arguments in the buff queue while people are pushing in? swear I'm still only a doc because I can't stand to queue myself for a buff)
