I read post after post about Buffs... From the docs view... From the customers view...

Always make me think. I really don't need to buff anyone if I don't want to...

Way it is now I havn't a need to. If I need money.. Self buff, armor, my weapon afew hours on dant and I am set for money. And no one had to b.i.t.c.h. at me to make that money.

Customer gripes about the price of this or that.. Hey feel free to take up the Profession yourself.. no one stopping you..

So your reading this say to yourself "Hey but that goes against the spirt of the game, of being a Doctor..." Welp I am not a role player... And if your worried I am being somewhat selfish. I am more then happy to freely buff any Guildie that comes asking for one. Personaly I'd like thatto be the case in general. If less and less public doctors where around. And more and more Private Guild Doctors where. Players would have more insentive to join up with a Guild and enjoy the perks of that Guild. Plus my guild mates give me not one bit of grief over a free buff..

Hehe, i agree but... yes always a but, lol. Dont know about your server but i know on intrepid buffbots have become popular for just such a reason. One more way to cut out interaction with other plalyers. Also, in our guild we have like 10 active players (yeah we are small but like it that way) half of which are docs as well as another proffesiion or have an alt who is a doc. Seems soon we will have hardly any active docs who actually sit at starports and buff.

Anyways, been reading all the gripe threads myself and know what both sides are going through being a master doc myself, just thought i'd comment

It's very uncomfortable when you're buffing your groupmates and some random dude comes along and wants a buff. I have to say no, no matter what he's paying - I was given the buff packs to use on the group and indeed I can't very well just use them on random dudes and pocket the change.

But even if I had made the buff packs myself, I think I would say no. There's a problem, I think, in this game because you can leave the doctor behind as long as you get the buffs. Many people pick, for that reason, a combat-stacking template, simply because once buffs are applied, there is no benefit (in their eyes) to being a combat/doc.

In most MMO's you have to take the healer with you. You have to protect the healer. If you're in a guild, someone has to be the healer or there is no viable grouping. I hope the CB returns us to this model, and you will see less starport buffing, simply because you can't just "buff and leave" but you have to take the doctor with you to survive.

My guild is small freindly sort to.. I have one other player that wants a buff once or twice anite from me.. I got some weaker Action type buffs for the 3 or 4 dancers in the crew. I make it a point to stop by the Cantinas after my own hunt and give them a ton of heal xp. And take em outside buff em up. Works well for everyone in the guild. I think I am the only active doc in my guild atm.Demands on my time are comfortable low.

I agree, that's exactly what i do in my guild/server. Except I also sell buffs on a vendor. And when someone see's me buffing, I say "Sorry guild only". I don't have to deal w/people who whine about stuff. They can't whine if i'm not doing it! And nobody in the guild gives me lip about ym buffs .

I am happy Are you?

I did have a player last night ask me for a buff. I did put in my bio that I am a Guild Doctor, and therefore I buff only guildmemebers... Hmm guess All he saw was the Master Doctor Badge.. /shrug

That is great! If you don't want to buff, don't! There is nothing in the EULA that says you have to. I like the intereaction I have with my customers. I have never had anyone yell at me for anything. However, I am polite, talkative and don't berate someone for not know how I do things. It must be a server thing or a city thing. I only buff in Theed, charge 10k for 2500 buffs and have never had one complaint. I don't usually carry wound packs with me either and have never had anyone get upset when I politely explained so.

Everyone can play the game how they want, that is was it so great about it. Some are tired of people, don't buff... some enjoy the interactoin, buff. Wonderful!

I never intended to sit in a spaceport buffing people, I spent enough time sitting in a med center to get to Master Doc, and it almost drove me nuts. I don't see how some of you do it, but then, to each their own.

I have a Master Doc/Master Swordsman, and I picked up Doc simply to support my Swordsman skills. Swordsman has no state defenses, and any high-end PVE requires a few heals here and there, Master Doc was my answer. I use my buffs on myself, and my guild-mates free of chargeif they need one, but will not publicly buff.

Besides, I make more money hunting than I ever could sitting in a spaceport or med center buffing people who lack manners and/or patience, those who say Docs are rich have absolutely no clue.

I am kinda in the same boat. I refuse point blank to sit about in a spaceport buffing people all day - but any guild members will get buffs as soon as they ask. I was just Doc x44x, but have decided to go Master.

I see some Doc's in Coronet getting yelled at for one reason or another and there is no way on earth I am paying to play a game only to have some snot-nosed kid start spouting off at me.

Anyone outside my guild asks, they will get told no!

Me and you got the same setup. My alts the Doc/Swordsmen... Helps when you get a nasty poison or what not to heal yourself and taking out the MOB.. As for wealth... I pritty much have more then enough for me needs.. I want to buy some fancey expensive thing. I save up more money till I can afford it. Most times money isn't a problem for me because I don't really buy much..

Lastnite for example... We have this new gal in our guild whos a Dancer for her main prof. She had mentioned her troubles and frustaions with TK and the grind. She only been playing amonth ago If I remeber right. So I spent the nite showing her the basics of comabt. The methods for fast xp. A buff and a trip to Dantoonie later she was where she wanted to be. And totaly enjoy TK.

I would have missed out on that fun if I was sitting in a Spaceport playing buff monkey to the masses... Nah I love my role as Guild Doctor

I personally like the idea of being able to solo at a master lvl in an elite combat profession. But it would be nice to see the guild appreciate the doc more. But oh well you can't make everything perfect for everyone. As long as you play the game the way it makes u happy, then you will continue to play the game. I'm actually surprised that no one has flamed this thread yet. Those are the type of people that made me decide to not buff the gp (general public). Anyways, have fun & continue to play the game!

It's a good thing the game is about choice. If you don't want to public buff, don't. But not everyone wants to join a guild, or has time for guild life, or can synchronize their playing schedule with that of a guild. Buff bots have become popular not because anyone wants to "cut off contact" with the customer, buff bots are popular because

a. The doctor makes his cash completely AFK (can you say Entertainer anyone? Or is that a bad word?)

b. With so many doctors apparently fed up with public buffing, it's very difficult to find a buff sometimes. A buff bot at a fixed WPis a godsend for that player. I've been that player so I know.

Me, I'm almost at Master, and I will buff my friends/guildmates as I please, I will public buff as I please, I will randomly buff some n00b waiting for a shuttle. As I please. One of the things I love about this game is I can log in and say "Hey, what do I want to do today?" and have lots of choices. I don't understand what the fuss is about, other than some who sound like they want to play other people's games for them. Problem with being on such a high horse is that all anyone else sees is a horse's @$$.

AMEN!!!

I used to beat my head against the wall with all the complaints and whatnot that went along with buffing the public until I finally got it in to my head that the only person that I needed to make happy was MYSELF. None of the people that demand buffs are offering to pay my monthly account, so they're in no position to demand ANYTHING of me.

When I get asked to buff, I just pull a Nancy Reagan and Just Say No. I'm firm but polite, and most people accept that. If I feel like buffing or need some easy XP for the village, I set a price and thats my price. If you argue over price or quality you don't get a buff from me. If you start acting like a ten year old whilst I am buffing you, I'll stop buffing you and return a pro-rated ammount of your money (If I'm buffing for 12k, you lose 2k for each attribute buffed). If a guildie comes up, they get priority.

If you need healing and I have packs, I'll gladly help. But I'll be up front and ask for payment. You don't pay, you don't get healed. Good wound packs cost money. Same goes for Rezpacks. They're not cheap. Make my time worth it.

My time is valuable. Realize this. I will NOT interupt my Janta/Mokk/Whatever missions to heal your 30 health wounds. Accept that I will finish what I am doing FIRST then I will help you out. And don't expect me to travel half the planet to save your bacon. Its not going to happen.

I'm sorry if you did something that got you diseased/poisoned/whatever but if you want my help, you pay and you are polite. You torque me off by acting like a ten year old, I watch you die. Its simple. The only freebies I give are for noobs, guildies, and my mates.

Don't tell me to take my tag down because I don't want to be your servant. Having a Master Doctor tag up doesn't mean I am going to be a charity service or your slave.

This isn't about being mean and evil and rude to people. This is about me playing the game I'm paying for the way I want to play. If I want to deal with people demanding me to work for them at no cost, I'll go back to my job.
