Prior to publish 10 you could master merchant, drop 5 vendors, drop merchant and continue to use the vendors. My main is currently a TKM/Doc, but will be going TKM/Swords/Medic in preperation for the jedi quests. My alt who is currently a master merch, will keep merchant but will pick up doctor so I can keep my buffpack business and to support my future jedi.

I thought about dropping merchant on my second character but I decided to keep it. I (and most other merchants) forsee a shortage of stocked vendors after publish 10. Those who dropped thier merchant skills will no longer be able to stock thier vendors and thus thier business dies. There are many crafters who are crafter/combat and are faced with the choice of picking merchant up again or giving up combat.

Most merchants and crafters agree that many crafters will give up crafting stocked vendors will become hard to find. Prices will rise accordly, which brings me to why I plan on keeping my alt as a merchant/crafting doc... money. Prices in general will rise for all goods, and it will be nice to get a piece of it. It's not that I'm greedy, my buffpacks are high quality and priced competatively with the other docs on my server. I do anticipate increased volume however because the vendor nerf will force some of my competitors out of business.

So, what are the thoughts of my fellow docs on this issue? Are there any docs here faced with the choice between dropping thier combat profession or giving up thier business?

Well I see it as the devs simply trying to grab more money out of the population. Instead of allowing merchants to rent out vendors they've done a simple and dirty "fix" (and i use that lightly) instead of making merchants work like merchants. Instead of it being like wal-mart where they sell finished goods, right now it's like going down to ford plant and buying the car.

Personally I'll just sell my stuff on the trade forums. It will be a little more difficult but I think buying a second account is pretty **edit**ing ridiculous.
